Used to go to tons of games at Hemisfair and it was so great after a victory to basically walk across the street to the Riverwalk to celebrate. Im moving back to SA next year and hope this all works out, might even splurge on a season ticket, especialy if they go back to downtown.

Ok, anyone in this thread saying "I'm only willing to trade 3 picks (or less) for Trae" is functionally saying "No to Trae", because there is no way in the world that ATL will accept less from SAS than all of what they paid for DJ (which was 3 picks and a swap) and MORE (because Trae is a more...

TBH, I'd rather "blow our load" on someone like Lauri (assuming he'll agree to re-sign, which is a risk), and then have a caretaker PG (for now) like Monte Morris (career .391 3P shooter) with Tre behind him. We don't need our PG to be our second star.

The only reasons I see to trade down are to 1) get an extra future 1st (unlikely, but you never can tell, if a gm falls in love with someone), 2) to get a player from the team we trade with to go along with the lower pick, or 3) unload an unwanted contract.

Trae Young might be frighteningly highly paid, undersized with bad defense who will cost a lot in the acquiring .... But the alternatives.... Are they much better? The Spurs had their chance at an underappreciated potential under the radar young free agent in Coby White but blew it chasing bad...

I get that but he might not just be made for the alpha/leader role, which he wouldn't asked to be in SA, while his skills are clearly fitting with Wemby. Thats what you'd ideally get, a creator, passer, shooting, lob master in Trae, with Wemby as the alpha. Vic should average 6=8 lobs a game in the...

Or they could hold their powder and trade for a less shitty disgruntled star? Why does it have to be Trae when there will be other players? Hell, in two weeks the national media will start cranking up the Mitchell, PG13, and Giannis trade rumor mill. And then there are players like Bridges,...

That's fine. Fair point that 7 >> 10-13 is too risky but maybe like 7 >> 8 or 9. Looking at the Pacers/Wiz trade last year where they Pacers traded 7 for 8 and picked up two second rounders for free. It's just good asset management but if they just end up taking Salaun with 7 cuz they like him...

Manu is also the one who introduced me to NBA twenty years ago. I still remember his hair flying in the wind during his drives to the basket. Unpredictable, the very embodiment of French flair (for better, and sometimes for worse). Parker took the team later, alongside Duncan, thanks to his quality...

TP had a unique skill that allowed him to create separation whenever he needed, he's a exception case Mills was a back up who came for his 3pt shooting more than his PG skills, the other 2 are from a diff era

If they really like Salaun just take him with the Toronto pick vs risking say OKC sniping him unless they're absolutely sure. Which would be tough moving 3-5 picks back.

trade down from 7 to 13 to get what? Another 2nd? Whats the point of trading down? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a super successful trade down that yielded a team with nice assets to make it worth it.

Disagree. I could see some of the top 10 picks making an immediate contribution. Off the top of my head, both Kentucky guards, Knecht, and Castle are probably getting rotation minutes day 1 with the Spurs. This team won 20 games this season, to think that a top 10 pick (even in a weak draft)...

Tbh, I've gone all the way back to preferring Sheppard out of all these point guard options. If someone's shot was guaranteed to translate well, it's his and he's a high effort player on both ends of the floor. Worst case scenario we get ourselves an elite shooter off the bench. Best case...

Really not sure there's one of these prospects who will contribute right away or can really bring instantly more than what spurs already have. This draft seems more about long term prospects than pure talent.

biggest things for me (paraphrasing): "Do you need to get bigger?" "Of course" On his catch and shoot 3%, he compared himself to Wilt being so bad at FTs bc he had no momentum, "I felt kinda the same bc theres so much going on with a small basketball, I feel way more comfortable in motion."...

Its crazy because LMA made 19.8M his first year with the Spurs and thats Keldon Johnson money now. Top players command 35-50M per year now days. People have to stop living in 2018 for player salaries.

I only wanted to respond specifically to the bolded portion. I think it's important to remember there is a timer on our draft capital, and that timer really starts ticking as soon as May 12 when we know if the TOR pick conveys or not. We could have as many as 6 picks over the next two drafts (this...

I am mostly out on Trae at this point as well, but this is a mischaracterization of what folks are saying and you should be able to recognize that. No one is advocating turning Wemby into Clint Capela who can only catch and dunk lobs. He'd still have his full repertoire, with the added benefit of...

So you're going to let Wemby walk after his rookie deal? Because his extension will be 30% of the salary cap, which right now would be about $56MM to start. Folks need to get over the sticker shock of some of these deals and come to reality with the cost of good players. It's not like its your...

in the full interview he talks about the "not being put in a box" comment he said he has no problem being called a center if he's playing center. seems he just doesnt care for being assigned a traditional positional role. ie if he's the center, he has to just play low post, back to basket the...

I'm still pro-Young, but with added caution. Where before I supported dealing ATLs three picks (plus salary) back for Young, I think my willingness to deal picks has shrunk to 2 FRPs, tops - as if this mattered to anybody. I would also scale back the sense of urgency this off-season because it's...
