Hell no... Even if you look at it simply(ignoring auto bids). The tournament takes the top 64 teams. Last i looked SHS had a +100 rpi. There are always teams at the end of the year with rpi's in the 30s that don't even get in(see below).

No, if their RPI is in the 100's, then they have no chance. the at large bids go to teams with RPIs in the low 50s.

No they cant. Yet another reason we all want out of the SLC. The system is designed to keep the marquee teams in the tournament.
UTSA/TXST/SHSU can schedule a really tough OOC schedule and do alright, but when it comes time to play in the SLC their RPI takes a hit because everyone else stinks.
Meanwhile, teams in the Big East / Big Twelve / ACC could schedule teams from the SLC in the OOC because they get their strength from Conference play. Each year new recruits come in and the conferences gets stronger and we are on the outside looking in.

The only chance they could is if they stayed undefeated for the year, including a win over Kentucky.

bugoy,
There are one or two people who think that SHSU could have made it if they went undefeated in conference with a close loss in the SLC tournament.
The two individuals you speak of are probably not the best 'sources' of anything informative as it pertains to our program.
We got some really knowledgeable posters, but like most boards - you get a mix of different posters. I'm sure you know how that goes! :lol
