I am training Kimbo right now, and I have to say that he is one of the BEST fighters I have EVER trained. He really listens to you and does what you say, do you know how hard that it? If he's dead tired, and I tell him five more rounds, he looks at me, but doesn't say anything, he just does it.
I entroduced him to the Bas Rutten MMA workout, he was SO tired, he told me that he has never been as tired. Today I was teaching him again, he asked me in the beginning "Are we ging to do the Bas Rutten workout?" But he said it in a crazy way, so I asked him "Do you want to do it?". He said "Please, yes!" I asked him why, because all my PROFESSIONAL fighters don't want to do it.
He said "Bas, I want to conquer this thing, I want to do it!" Man, he gets, Lots, and losts of respect!

All the shit that people write about him, I am telling you, and I hope you know I don't lie, he's a trooper! I wish that all my fighters would be like him. Even my wife loves the guy. He is SO respectful and uses NO bad language in front of kids (my two little daughters love him, and they don't like anybody!), I am REALLY, blown away.

He really deserves this, I think this. Can a boxer be a MMA FIGHTER? We all know the answer, but can a street fighter be an MMA fighter? We all KNOW the answer to that!

I would wish that all my fighters were like him, like I said, I can put him through every workout I give him, he WILL do it, no questions asked.

I hope you guys meet Kimbo one day, you will be blown away. I just came back from an MMA event and I brought him there, just see how he is with the fans, it's crazy!

You also know that I would NEVER train an asshole, so trust me, but he's got me, Shawn Tompkins (who trained him longer than I have,) and Randy Kathami (boxing coach for my gym) respect. I REALLY love the guy.

I probably said that a few months ago when this fight was announced, but he's obviously taking this seriously. He's training with top tier MMA fighters, trainers, and coaches. If he wants to make a run in MMA it's fine with me. See what he can do in a real sport instead of beating up nobodies on the street and having ignorant people think he's the baddest guy on the planet...

Besides, I want all the boxers that make the jump to MMA to get destroyed and embarassed...even if they're fighting an internet streetfighting legend that's making his MMA debut....

its not "fixed" jackhole, boxing is fixed. wrestling is scripted like a movie they have the beginning, middle and end planned out. UFC is fixed, just look at Liddell v Rampage, they told Liddell to take a beating so that Rampage could win and try to get their ratings up by drawing in a black audience.

seriously? i mean c'mon.. he wins and he got a victory over a 40 yr old, out of his prime mercer. he loses and he's not going to be taken very seriously in the MMA world. it'll be interesting, and i'll probably end up watching just for the not sure what to expect factor, but it's obvious that kimbo doesn't have the skillset to be consistently successful in this type of setting. thats just my take.

If he wins, then we need to see more IMO. Mercer certainly isn't an MMA test...but it's a start.

What's the hate on boxers? MMA and boxing are two different sports the same can be said about an MMA fighter going into boxing chances are he wouldn't fare to well. I enjoy both boxing and MMA but I view them as two completely different sports.

Ray Mercer Update!
According to a report on ESPN, Ray Mercer has decided to hang up his MMA gloves for the time being and concentrate on boxing. Mercer told the Philadelphia Daily News, ""It was like I put my head in his armpit and said, Go ahead, choke me. From now on, I'm sticking to boxing. I can't get choked out in boxing." Mercer lost his second MMA fight via submission when he was choked out by underground street fighter Kimbo Slice. Mercer (34-6-1, 25Ko's) has not boxed since 2005.

Mercer was terrible, he freaking put his head into the guillotine. Kimbo could have some success though. He definitely looked like he had some skill on the ground.

The difference is that boxers talk trash about MMA saying that a boxer will dominate an MMA fighter in an MMA match....MMA fighters aren't "skilled" or aren't athletes...MMA is a fad...etc etc. Fuck all boxers that think they can come into MMA without training in all phases of the sport and do well. I hope they all get choked out and embarassed like Mercer did. I just wish a bigger name (and younger) boxer would do the same now...
