(1 of 2) I'm thrilled with 7-5, don't know how Rich Rod got it done, and hopefully this is like 2008 when we get a winnable bowl game, but that game pissed me off something special last night. I know he's had a decent/good year, but I couldn't be happier we only have one more game of Matt Scott. He's the main culprit for why we're so bad on the road because of how fragile his psych is, and he makes way too many feast or famine decisions during games a lot of which are when we don't need a big play. I'm also not one to care much about personality, but Foles was likeable when he was here and it was easy to cheer for him. He was nice to everyone he interacted with, didn't expect people to get on their knees every time he walked by them, and never had anything negative to say about his teammates, coaches, or the school. Scott is the polar opposite. He regularly does coke before games, expects people to treat him like god, and I've never heard anything good about him.
(2 of 2) What do you expect next year? I really like the defense's potential with basically everyone coming back. The biggest factor is having underclassmen who aren't undersized step up so we don't have such a lack of depth that leads to implosions when the offense can't get them a rest. The other big factor is if Shaq/McKnight/Grandon can progress with a full year together and be more reliable. The offense has 4 of 5 O-linemen coming back iirc and its major losses are Scott and Buckner. The defense is always gonna be a product of whether or not the offense can stay on the field and get the other team on its heels, so I see everything depending on how well the offense adjusts to becoming more of a Rich Rod system. If we get another running back who's a good fit in Rich Rod's system and takes some of the load off Carey, and 2-3 receivers who step up as a good fit for the offense, I see 9-10 wins as a real possibility.
Yeah, meant Aaron Gordon. It's a great class, light on size, but adding Randle to Marcus Lee and those two likely to holdovers of Wiltjer and Cauley, they'll have plenty up front with Wiggins, Young, Harrison twins, and Harrow on the perimeter. That's nine deep, arguably deeper than any Kentucky team of Cal's.
I'm assuming you mean Gordon. I've been expecting Washington hit rock bottom for awhile now and this year they might actually do it the way they've looked so far so hopefully that'll put them out of the picture. I also figured Wiggins will end up with Kentucky the way the top recruit does every year. If they also get Randle that's one of the best recruiting classes of all time imo. The only thing it would be lacking is size. If Wiggins goes there will that basically eliminate any chance Gordon does too? The way he's looked so far I think with a starting role and 25+ MPG Ashley could easily get up to 15 PPG. He's the best player on the team.
Ashley should start from here on out, get a consistent 25 minutes, and if so, he should average 11-14 ppg. Love Jerretts potential, but I always figured him to be the most in need of coaching, development of the three bigs. Hearing good things on Ashley. May ultimately come down to Kentucky and Arizona, and his preference is to stay west, plus contend, plus have an immediate role, plus plat mostly at SF. Washington will use him in the post exclusively and they won't contend. Kentucky already has James Young at SF, and will likely add Wiggins additionally at the position, and Randle potentially at PF. Arizona is the only of his ffinal three to offer everything he desires. Plus, Washington made a strong push for him to sign early and he declined.
So here's another really stupid bet.....my friend bet me that Jerrett is gonna outscore Ashley this season and already wants to negotiate a buyout
Wazzu player leaves, citing Leach with emotional, verbal abuse
Carey is a goddamn monster!
As if the night couldn't get worse after adding injury to insult, McKale's enguego at the moment. Fire is small and reportedly contained, but still...
Yeah, they were a handful of plays away from beating OSU and Stanford and beat four other ranked squads. All losses are to ranked opponents, and while two were horrific, vs this schedule, a bowl eligible season in year one is great.
