It references the famous shot that Don Nelson hit against the Lakers in game 7 of the 1969 NBA Finals. There was around a minute left in the game. The Celts were up one and had possession. A Laker defender managed to knock the ball from Havlicek's hands, and instead of a turnover, Don Nelson found himself with the ball. He hoisted up a shot, it hit the back iron and sailed about 5 feet above the rim before falling in, pretty much breaking the Lakers' collective back and making Culburn eat the biggest shit-sandwich of his young life thus far.
