No, the protein is not situated intracellularly. The protein reacts with components outside the cell membrane - inducing a cellular change in osmolarity and/or membrane permeability (depending on the protein itself).

Did you understand the basics of my project? I'm still in the process of finalizing it...I could change projects. I have thought about taking advantage of the BSL-4 lab... haven't thought about what I would focus on though but the working with ebola will always have me intrigued. Back in 09, researchers were successful in a ebola-related project. If memory serves right, they were able to block two cell signaling pathways.

I kind of like Spivak's Calculus on Manifolds for use of tensors in studying differential forms, but it's still a pretty formal book. I haven't read Munkres' Analysis on Manifolds, but from what I have heard it is more leisurely introduction. Still, any analysis book is going to be pretty theoretical. I have read some of Spivak's first two differential geometry books also, but they're not any easier than the Serge Lang Algebra text I responded with before (that's where I first came across tensor products). I really wish Michael Artin would have put multilinear algebra in his intro text, since that's easily the most illuminating algebra book on the market with his focus on the general linear groups, orthogonal groups, etc. over the standard books that spend too much time on symmetric groups. I guess it's going to be up to you to write the book Tensor Product: Easy Version.

Look up BPES (blepharophimosis). Hell have to have at least one surgery to lift his lids, and probably another to reshape his eyes. The nearest place I saw that does it is Albuequerque, which is a four hour drive one way.

Cool cool. We have to see if Cannon will be able to support my son's surgery; if not we'll get reassigned. It will probably take awhile to find out.
