  1. Parrom is heading up the recruiting of Lyons now that the transfer is a certainty. Lyons was actually Parrom's recruiting sponsor while at Xavier before Miller left. The two are good friends, similar in focus and playing styles, and I think this makes a big difference in where he ends up.

It's between Arizona, Kentucky and Kansas, but only Arizona offers the coach he first committed to, a system he's familiar with, a guaranteed starting PG spot with 10+ shots a game, a good friend, and some proven veteran talent.
  2. Arizona in it vs. the big boys of Kansas and Kentucky. Word is UCLA is trying to get involved, though that seems really foolish. Not sure Lyons and Shabazz can coexist. Kansas and Arizona offer the most shots and largest role at PG. Kentucky is obviously the hot name. Of them all, only Arizona offers coaching staff and system familiarity.
  3. So, Lyon has to pass a summer class to gain immediate eligibility, so this wouldn't be "finalized" until during the summer, wherever he ends up. Some in the know have Arizona being a heavy favorite, others have them as one of a few likely destinations only. Still, good chance this happens. Lyons will likely commit to wherever sooner than later, then finalize it all when he's graduated. He's a true comboguard, but many think he could average over 5 apg as a PG with 14-17 ppg on good shooting.
  4. Again, he has some attitude concerns I am sure Miller will want to check out, but he has just one year to play, he wants to play PG, he redshirted under Miller, and Arizona needs a PG for ones season and can reallly benefit from Lyons aggressive offense. Lyons was a main part of the Xavier/Cincinnati brawl. But Parrom punched his HS coach and hasn't had any issues with Miller.
  5. So long as he graduates as expected. Check out his stats. Really good player. Recruited out of HS as a PG, but has played more of a comboguard role at Xavier. He's got some attitude baggage, but he's very aggressive on the court and knows/respects Miller already. I don't mind a little attitude. Better than apathy.
  6. Mark Lyon, Xavier graduating transfer, is a real possibility for UA. Not done, not guaranteed, but he was Miller's recruit back in 2008 and he's graduating a year early. He has an attitude on the court, but has talent and I think an aggressive attitude at PG/CG is exactly what Arizona needs out of it's one year transfer.
  7. Arizona has pulled out of the Della Valle race. Looks like he's opted to end things early now, choosing either OSU, Gonzaga or A&M. Word is Ohio State will land him.

Arizona opted to hold on to its last scholarship in hopes of either a transfer or prospect release from coaching turnover. We'll have to wait and see. They are holding out hope for a 1 year graduate transfer at PG. Not a whole lot to choose from, but there's a few. If not that, then a graduate wing with scoring ability off the dribble. A few more of them to choose from. They just don't want to scare off the 2013/2014 recruits by bringing in a guard who's unlikely to make an immediate impact and who could transfer if not used to his liking within the year. By then the 2013 wings may be spoken for.

I think it's smart on Arizona's part. ADV is good, but he's solely a spot-up shooter and hasn't developed the PG aspects many thought he would.

  9. If the staff learns its lesson, that talent doesn't overrule mentality, heart, dedication and hard work, then the failures of Sidiki and Josiah aren't worthless. I think they are already moving in that direction, and the players they are bringing in are the exact opposites of those entitled types.

HUGE turnover, but having either Mayes (sr), Johnson (jr) or York (so) developed as a backup PG for 2013-14 when McConnell is our starting guard will be a huge blessing that comes from this.

Not sure if it's ADV or another, but I think and have been told Arizona will look to add one more to the 2012 class.

Hard to think that only Mayes, Johnson, Hill, Parrom and Chol remain from last year's team.

If Mayes stays and is healthy (with Turner gone, not sure why he wouldn't), and if Parrom is healthy (he is on to conditioning already), I think that's a talented core to add a top-3 overall class to (perhaps still #1 if Noel goes to Georgetown or Syracuse & Bennett goes to Washington or Oregon).
  10. Speaking of apparently not team players, Josiah Turner is transferring. Shocked the hell out of everyone. Most thought he'd either quit entirely or be back. Looks like he's only quitting on the team. Really a shame because I was told that all the seniors from last year and upcoming this year all went to Miller and asked him to give Josiah another chance. He did. Apparently he can't abide by the parameters, or he just doesn't give a fuck. What a damn waste.
