Her shadow always mirrors her rotation for me. If I see her rotating clockwise, I see the shadow rotating the same way. If I see her rotating counter-clockwise, so is her shadow. If I concentrate on her foot, I can change my perception of their rotation at will.

You can't will the shadow to spin a particular way, as you can with the figure, because there is not enough visual information contained within the shadow itself to indicate it is spinning in either direction; it merely mirrors whichever direction you perceive the girl to be spinning. However...

I quite enjoy the word, actually. Though I generally tend to be more bothered by intent than language.

The shadow is also an optical illusion.
