Benicio Del Toro is creepy enough without that movie.
blows like sucking so bad it gets you off with entertainment (like Legion) or toothy painful blows?
It was OK. The special effects, atmosphere, and the action parts were great, but the plot and the acting were pretty weak.
Tony Hopkins has been nosediving ever since THIS gem...
How can you say those special effects were great? They were a step above Teen Wolf and Gremlins. Benicio del Toro did about as well as you can with that script. I don't fault the guy for the movie sucking. The story was just bad.
based on a true story
I thought the cinematography and acting were great. It was the special effects, particularly the movement of the wolfman, that ruined this movie for me.
The effects in the 1940's Lon Chaney Jr version are actually better. Not for just for their time period, but compared straight up to the effects in this movie. At least that wolfman moved like an organic being and not a robot.
It's not the worst Werewolf movie I've seen but it's not as good as An American Werewolf in London, the Wolfman, or the Werewolf of London.
is it at least better than spader/nicholson wolf?
Steaming pile of wolf . I had enough loyalty points so the the movie was free, though.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. A little cheesy, sure, but I liked a lot of it and thought they did a good job of capturing the Hammer Horror feel.
Agreed. Apart from the cheese it was ok. It was more of a horror throwback atmosphere and I liked the more traditional werewolf story. I couldn't help but think of Michael Jackson's Thriller when they showed the wolf for the first time though. Del Toro did a good job, but Hugo Weaving could have done without the Agent Smith dialogue.
