A 2-3 Zone with 5 year-olds?
for career wins as his 5 year-old St. John Bosco Eagles defeated St. Paul's 12 to 2 on Sunday afternoon!
It was funny... kids running the wrong way... shooting at the wrong basket... My 2-3 Zone defense seemed to work... and the kids displayed pretty damm good foot work!
Thanks to all who gave me the advice earlier!
Don't look back Pop.... I'm a gaining!
A 2-3 Zone with 5 year-olds?
You betcha!
I taught them to "stay home".... At practice, I put a small cone at their spot... had them follow the ball around the wings, and trap inside... if they
"wander", which they do of course... I just yell "Soandso... go home"... and they do....
A zone keeps them from all converging on the ball....
That's why I was laughing. At that age/level, you are usually coaching "bunch-ball". Everyone wants to be near the ball.
Good luck with that.
You got 5 year olds playing Zone?
I had enough trouble gettin 10 year olds to do it
What's your secret, gophergeorge?
No Soup for you!
Just a lot of practice.... working on footwork.... and when you want to yell and scream... smile and laugh....
Kids can crack you up....
Fire Pop! Hire Gopher!
I had a hard enough time keeping my daughter from doing cartwheels at midcourt....but zone?!?
Good job!
that's awesome
