Ben gets flack about his movies all the time but the dude can act and write some good stuff. I'm not surprised and I'll be checking it out for sure.
29 positive to only 5 negative so far.
"Tense, smartly written, and wonderfully cast, The Town proves that Ben Affleck has rediscovered his muse -- and that he's a director to be reckoned with."

Kinda surprising, the previews looked like .
Also, I'm in the minority but I absolutely hated Gone Baby Gone.
Affleck directed this?
Good on him.
I know I am in the minority because I like Ben and most of movies. I really liked Gone Baby Gone. This one looks pretty good from the trailers I've seen.
I agree. i think it is just the movie snobs...or pop culture snobs who like to hate. I have liked most of his movies as well.
Gone Baby Gone was an excellent movie. I'm sad we didn't see any further movies about those characters.
I thought the previews for this looked good and I thought the cast looked good. Will definitely be checking it out.
I'll be there at the Alamo drafthouse to see it friday night!
I know les don't mean , but seriously "The Town" come on. It could of been better. Might go out and see this. Still need to see inception.
"Inception" ain't much better of a le if you ask me.
Dude it's ten times better.
Yeah I guess I might go see The Departed 2 soon
I was also thinking this would be a good one to catch at the drafthouse
I didn't know what to think of The Town at first, but I figured since Affleck directed Gone Baby Gone and I thought it was great, that I'd give The Town a chance.
The only problem I have is the hype around this movie. One review said it was Heat meets The Departed.
Really? Come on. That's ing blasphemy. Those are two of the greatest crime saga's ever made and this movie is supposed to be some integration of the two?
Either way though, I'll probably go see it because it looks solid and I have an abnormal crush on Blake Lively. And Jeremy Renner is a good actor too, as well as Hamm. Affleck can't possibly suck in this movie, can he?
Yeah, Casey Affleck did really good in that movie. As well as Ed Harris and Freeman. I still don't know what I would have done at the end of the movie, but it's one of the better movies to really exemplify the issues of professional ethics, the nature of humanity, as well as the difference between what's right and what's wrong and the gray areas of all of those issues.
i don't mind affleck but i will never ever again trust rottentomatoes.com after their 9.5+ rating of that ty movie paranormal activity.
Count me in the camp that likes Gone Baby Gone. A lot. Excellent movie all the way around. I've never really understood the generally low opinion about Ben Affleck. As an actor, he's never really stood out to me as exceptional, but he's never been horrible either. And he's had funny cameos in Kevin Smith movies. Then again, I never saw Pearl Harbor or Gigli.
This movie looks like it's going to be great IMO. Can't wait to see it
I've never understood the Affleck hate. He was in a string of bad movies, as almost every actor is at some point, and the whole J-Lo phase was unfortunate, but it's been pretty evident since early in his career that he's got talent. And he's always struck me in interviews as being pretty sharp.
Affleck's blatant weakness is a terribly weak voice.
It looked pretty damn interesting to me. Somewhat reminded me of "Point Break" from back in the day. I will be checking this out for sure...
Yeah me neither. I like most of his movies except for Gigli and the voyage of the Mimi.
Just saw it. I thought it was pretty badass.
