I can't think Canada and not think Percy Williams.(white)
As a kid he was sicky, always sick, the doctors telling his parents to keep him away from anything strenuous.
He'd end up winning both the 100 and 200 meters at the 1928 Olympics, at.............126....pounds. He is still the smallest sprinter to ever win an Olympic sprint.
I also think of George Reed, the CFL's version of Jim Brown. How he managed to stay in the CFL and not leave for the NFL...???
I also think of Bulldog Brower, Czaya Nandor, Whipper Watson and Killer Kowalski huge rasslin' stars in Canada back in the day. Obviously the Hart clan.
Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, and.....hmmm?
Sergeant Preston of the Canadian Mounties.....one of my fav TV shows back in the day. Way back in the day.
That 1996 Olympic 4x1 gold medal winning team of Robert Esmie...Glenroy Gilbert...Bruny Surin...Donovan Bailey (100m gold, WR) all with Caribbean roots.
Like Reed he wasn't Canadian but he got his start in the CFL, talking a 250 pound fullback in the 60's Cookie Gilchrist***, who would go on to become the first 1000 rusher in the new AFL as a Buffalo Bill. Cookie went straight from HS to pro football.
If I could live anywhere else it would be Canada, somewhere way out in them woods. Somewhere where when ya stepped outside to take a leak there stood a moose or an elk or even a bear.
**** actually Paul Brown signed him to the Browns as a HS junior, yep...illegal.
Cookie the only pro footballer to ever have a 1000 yard season that never played college football at all. Joe Perry did play JC ball at Compton JC.

To our inept, pussy neighbors to the North; your beer sucks, your women are pedestrian and you walk around with a sense of confidence that only comes from having a big brother that owns the world, but you guys are buddies and fwiends of ours and thank you for Norm McDonald and South Park mockery. Happy Canada, Day!
So you have not listened to “This Is That”
Renounce your citizenship immediately.
