Most likely nothing to see here, but slow news week.
A&M wants to get away from the #WRTS slogan:

Deadspin with a more informative read on #WRTS and Mack's father:

So Mack went to A&M because Mack's daddy saw an opportunity to make some cash.
Sad.
The sad part is muddying the waters of a great business opportunity for your family by hiring a lawyer who graduated from A&M, most likely donates to A&M and helped file trademarks for the very controversial Johnny Football. How do you not see that arrangement as a potential problem for A&M and your son's recruitment?
Tech has some beautiful buildings too. And captured against the background of snow is breathtaking
Now A&M defensive coordinator, John Chavis, is suing LSU AND A&M over contract issues:
http://www.kbtx.com/home/headlines/A...vice=phone&c=y
I need someone smarter than me to explain because it's a bizarre turn of events.
Looks like Chavis wants A&M to pay that $400K to LSU even though he doesn't think he owes, so he's suing both parties.
This is what I found
Here is the complaint:
http://media.graytvi...vis_lawsuit.pdf
Chavis could unilaterally terminate his contract with 30 days notice, so once he turned in his notice on Jan 5, the clock began to tick on the expiration of his contract. Until that clock ran out, he was still contractually obligated to LSU. Aggy and Chavis are saying Chavis did nothing connected to TAMU athletics until Feb 12 and therefore Chavis owes nothing, since his contract would have been terminated with less than 11 months remaining. The key date here is Feb 5, the date on which, under Chavis' notice, his contract would have terminated. LSU is saying that prior to Feb 5 (30 days after Chavis gave notice) Chavis performed some act that cons uted a constructive breach of his contract and therefore they are due no less than $400,000 in liquidated damages.
If Chavis discussed TAMU defensive strategy, potential TAMU recruits, appeared in public in a TAMU logo or any of a number of other acts, he could very well be held in breach of his contract and have to pay the $400,000 in liquidated damages for early termination of the contract. I haven't read Chavis' contract, but if the $400,000 was just liquidated damages for early termination, he may well be liable for additional damages for the constructive breach. Additionally, if TAMU induced Chavis to constructively breach his contract, TAMU could be liable for damages for tortious interference with a contract. TAMU could talk Chavis into giving notice and terminating his contract in accordance with its terms, but TAMU could not induce Chavis to breach the contract without facing potential liability.
If this is all true, I don't see how A&M has a case. One of many examples that he was working for them before Feb. 5:
From what I've read, I think A&M has to be involved in the suit as his current employer and it also keeps the case in Brazos County. But the issue is Chavis recruiting for A&M BEFORE that February 4th date. My guess is someone from A&M prematurely told Chavis there would be no issue with potential damages in order to get him out on the recruiting trail as quickly as possible (see the Mack picture), but that situation backfired and here we are. LSU wants $400K in damages, A&M doesn't want to pay anything (as they're already paying old coaches) and Chavis definitely doesn't want to dip into his own pockets.
LSU should countersue. What moron gave Chavis the green light to recruit for aggy while still employed at LSU?
Lawyer on OBs out of Houston claims LSU did this afternoon.

Per OrangeBloods, TE JC Chalk of Argyle will not be in Austin tomorrow.
From what I have read Chavis and lawyer did not have to involve ATM, but it works to his benefit if he does. He is still on for coaching in the Spring though. So I too need more clarification as it appears that AGgIe is not surprised that Chavis has involved them.
Aggie claims its all to keep this out of Louisiana courts. And Brazos county could find Chavis needs to pay LSU in which case the Aggies would pay the fee. Other explanation claims that Chavis could have kept it out of Louisiana without involving ATM. So I am confused.
