According to 24/7, UT is still working hard on LB Shammond Cooper of St. Louis, MO.
He's in constant contact with Carrington and Coach Orlando, and he's looking into an official visit to UT for the USC game.
That's potentially a good opportunity for his teammate, WR Marcus Washington, to visit Austin as well.

Inside Texas saying ATH Jake Smith of Scottsdale, AZ is trying to get to Austin before his high school begins two-a-days.

And now they have 10 4'star guys and 11 3'star or lower guys. I can still honestly say, outside of Leal and Green, I am un-phased by their class. This is not to say I think it is a bad class, on the contrary, I think it's a great class, but It's strongest position right now is DB class and Texas is doing very well in that area. Their offensive line class is Green and a lot of bread. I do like their Dline class but only because Leal is a difference maker.
I will reserve actual judgement until after February, but for now I think Texas is going to have the Better QB, RB, Oline, LB and Tie for DB and WR. Dline is probably going to be theirs unless we pull some pretty big rabbits our of our ass.
OrangeBloods saying it could be "a productive weekend" for Texas.
Carter told The Football Brainiacs he will be committing on October 24th.
Per The Football Brainiacs, they're expecting the most recent silent commitment to go public on Saturday.
And I don't know if it's related, but they had a separate report saying the UT coaches are willing to take a commitment from WR Demariyon Houston.
WR and DB are the two positions I care least about since there are so many great prospects out there and Texas has great recruiters at those positions.
What I'd like to see is Texas close on Shephard or one of the islanders.
Agreed on WR.
the main thing I'd always want is beef on both sides of the line.
With our D we need beef in the middle with quick big guys on the edges; DE. Quick tackling LBs and heat seeking missle DBs and safeties. We appear to have this but without the necessary depth unless the freshmen pan out.
I still think online and rb are ?.?? Even QB is tenuous.
If we could actually pound the ball and break some big runs it would help the passing game enormously. If our O clicks, we will be very tough to beat if we stay healthy on D. Gary Johnson needs to stay healthy and fast. He could really control other teams because of the way Orlando can use him and his elite speed.
DE Zach Williams of Little Rock, AR stays home and commits to Arky.

Man, Goodwin is one of my favorites. A great Longhorn on and off the field.
FWIW, 24/7 and Inside Texas still have WR Demariyon Houston going to Oklahoma State tomorrow.
That leaves one of the silent commitments open for someone like OL Javonne Shepherd.
