There's a lot of rumors going around for Arsenal.... if they end up buying up all these players I think they'll make up for what was lost... but with the door already closing it's hard to see it happening.
Technically, sure. But we all know soccer is a sport where a team can court a signed player without penalty, and players can easily whine their way to other teams even under contract. And it's pretty pointless to keep want-away players.
In any case, Arsenal lost Nasri and Fabregas and had no backup plan. Why they would wait until the last week of August is a mystery to everyone, but they're paying for it.

I'd 8-2 be an Arsenal fan right now.
I'd even 8-2 be Arsene Wenger right now.

So, Mertesacker to Arsenal seems a done deal. Good signing! He can instantly replace Koscielny. I think he will do fine in the PL. Merte is not the quickest, but his positioning is really good, and he will give Arsenal some much needed height as well. Plus he is a very experienced player.
According to goal.com, Arsenal has been inquiring with Fulham about Clint Dempsey.

Also, Arsenal are preparing a late bid for Fiorentina's Juan Vargas.

I hope not... it would really suck to have to root for Arsenal.
Who are you rooting for in the EPL anyway?
Arsenal has signed Park Chu-Young from Monaco.

I usually just root for whoever has the Americans I like. So, Fulham and Bolton for now. I also usually like to pick a team that is right outside of the top tier but could surprise to root for. This year I picked Liverpool.
But I don't have a side I consistently follow, just like good football.
BBC saying "Ribery to Chelsea confirmed fee of €22 from reliable sources in Germany."
Arsenal signed Andre Santos and Mertesacker. Now all they need to compete is Sneijder, Malouda, Arteta and Essien.
Saw this on an ESPN chat:
@MirrorFootball tweets: Bayern Munich dismisses Ribery to Chelsea claims: "There has been no offer and it is a complete non-starter."

Sky Sports sources understand Craig Bellamy has been given permission to leave Wales' training camp to travel to Liverpool to discuss a return to Anfield.
Bellamy had been preparing for Friday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro at the Cardiff City Stadium with the rest of Gary Speed's squad.
A late transfer before Wednesday night's deadline always appeared possible, with Bellamy a long way down the pecking order at Manchester City and not in Roberto Mancini's plans for this season.
A number of clubs were keeping tabs on his situation and Queens Park Rangers and Stoke appeared to be leading the chase for his signature.
However, it is now thought that Bellamy could end up making a surprise move back to Anfield after two-and-a-half years at City.
The Football Association of Wales is understood to have allowed the striker to make his way from Wales to Merseyside for talks and a medical.
Bellamy spent the 2006/7 campaign with Liverpool under Rafa Benitez, before leaving for West Ham.
