Same old Texas.
Not so fast my friend!
Same old Texas.
Time to change the recruiting pitch to, "We need you, we don't have the right players on campus."
We beat Notre Dame last year to open and thought we were world beaters. This was a tough loss to walk away from but if last year taught us anything it's that the opening game doesn't define you. Maryland was sharp and we were not. Let's hope for improvement moving forward.
Incredibly frustrating.
Hard to take anything positive from that other than it's the first game and they came back from 20 down.
Reggie Hemphill and Holton Hill were the only bright spots everyone else was just mehhhh...
oline is turrible...........heard should be starting qb
Welcome back Charlie! Turns out, he never left... tbh
5 carries. And buechele missed three wide open guys with horrible passes on the wrong shoulder. No excuses for the secondary
I think Hill gave up at least two Tds
We were horrible. An interception, a blocked FG, and a punt returned for TD's, half of our pts.
They were much the better team, coached and players.
But our lockers look really good.
D
Still can't get off blocks, can't stop a running QB, can't tackle in the open field... And they just flat out caught us with useful plays in bad D sets ( o Mr. Tough guy Orlando)
O
Had to abandon the run. Very few big holes opened. Blocking on passing varied, lots of bad penalties.
Special teams
Made and gave up huge plays. FGs a problem AGAIN.
Coaches were every bit as bad as the players.
To add to that, every time they were in a situation to really turn momentum around, they committed a bad penalty. Just a badly played/coached game that should have been a W.
Connor killed UT on the last drive twice in a row. But that still doesn't explain the lack of Warren carries when Porter was horrible. Buechele still never threw over the middle because he is too ing short.
yup. it was the hippity hop that caused them to come out flat the first half. maybe some george strait and rascal flats will do the trick next time
I feel like I have bought into useless swampland twice now.
Is UTSA the best football team in the UT system? Serious question.
vacuously maybe
still undefeated
Team has the exact same problem it had with Charlie. You need a quality QB, one that is at least a junior. The strike out was when we missed on a QB graduate transfer, which would have given us time to get the ones in the pipeline mature enough to start. Without that, it doesn't matter how Strong the defense is (see what I did there?), it will break down because our offense isn't keeping the other offense off the field. Once the QB position is solidified, then the wins will pile up. It won't happen this year.
