It officially starts today leading to February 23rd 2017 deadline...Unless something blockbuster is happening let's use this thread for discussions of rumors floating around the league and general trade ideas..

First batch of rumors from Woj...

Wojnarowski On Raptors, Warriors, Noel, Heat

In his latest podcast for The Vertical with longtime NBA executive Bobby Marks, Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned that the Pacers have been strongly rebuffing trade inquiries on Paul George, telling teams that they won’t even listen to offers. We had a full story on that earlier today, but it wasn’t the only notable tidbit from the conversation between Wojnarowski and Marks. Here are several more highlights from the podcast:

    • The Raptors appear to be willing to give up a draft pick and at least one of their young prospects to improve their current roster, but there aren’t many options out there right now for Toronto. According to Wojnarowski, the club can afford to be patient and opportunistic since it has so many young players who are still improving. The Vertical scribe points to Denver’s 2012 acquisition of Andre Iguodala (the Nuggets gave up Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, a future first-round pick, and a second-rounder) as the type of deal Masai Ujiri might be open to making again.
    • The Warriors would like to add a rim protector, but they know teams won’t be giving that type of player away, and they don’t want to do any trade that makes them “even 1% less likely to win a le,” says Wojnarowski.
    • The research that rival teams have done on Nerlens Noel is “not good,” per Wojnarowski, who adds that those clubs haven’t gotten good reports about the way the Sixers big man carries himself, and his habits. Teams are still interested in acquiring Noel, but they don’t want to give up a whole lot for him, so it’ll be interesting to see if Philadelphia eventually takes what it can get. The Sixers would probably love to see Noel put in a couple healthy and productive months before the deadline to improve his stock.
    • The Heat will likely test the trade market for Goran Dragic, but after giving up two first-round picks to acquire him, getting a single pick back in return would essentially be admitting they made a mistake, says Wojnarowski.
    • Wojnarowski wonders if the Celtics are overvaluing some of their own players, including perhaps Marcus Smart, in trade talks. Boston also continues to keep an eye on Gordon Hayward in case there’s any chance the Jazz make him available in a contract year.
    • Marks believes that if the Nets decide to move Brook Lopez, they can wait until the last year of his contract to do so. Marks, who previously worked for the franchise, calls Lopez a “creature a habit,” suggesting the veteran center is more likely than most players to re-up with his current team instead of actively exploring the free agent market. Lopez’s deal expires in 2018, but Wojnarowski notes that Brooklyn values him and won’t move him just to move him.

So long as he doesnt go to warriors..I dont really care where Noel goes. I WANTED him but with Dedmon playig like a Demon...i dont care for lockeroom problems.

But the warriors should do everything they can to aquire as many picks as possible to throw at PHI and maybe one vetern player to get Noel.

It's a perfect match. Noel when healthy was always in the top of all defensive metrics despite player for the sixers.

I'd be pissed as if Noel goes to the Dubs for peanuts.

I can assure you, The sixers are only getting peanuts offers right now.

Let's just hope someone else offers something much better than the warriors. I would provably give up on the season already if they somehow manage to steal Noel.

There has to be a team out there willing to give more than the 30th pick for Noel.

Look for a large dose of D-Worst/Javale/Varejao, and hopefully few Ls come with it ..

I don't think anyone is giftwrapping them anybody..Don't underestimate the personal relationships at the executive levels that help making deals..

Fellow owners and GMs hate the guts of that prick Lacob after his arrogantly dismissive comments ("light years ahead" of anyone) and getting Durbeta to form a superteam through possibly tampering misconduct (GSW players were apparently recruiting him throughout the season and playoff series) has only made them more furious at how that franchise operates..

Sure...but Warriors can trade Iggy or Livingston to a desperate third team looking to make it to the playoffs in exchange for a pick and some salary filler player...They have things they can do to improve their offer..

Maybe even throwing Ian Clark with multiple picks etc...

Woj just said they won't make a trade that involves their important pieces so that takes Iggy/Livingston out of the equation. After those two it's slim pickings. Honestly from what it sounds like it could end up being a case similar to the Pau/Kwame trade.

the Logo continuing to the rest of the league

Don't think so, in fact they will get backlash in some form ala CP3-to-LA vetoed trade after their Pau heist (Cuban/Gilbert and co. ganged up on LA with Stern to shoot it down; and Lacob is an even more detestable figure)...It started with the new CBA,which makes it harder to form super teams with new extention rules for stars..

Noel is fragile, can't pass, can't score, can't shoot. He's horrible. And the Warriors can only take one nut case on the roster. One more will make that team of psychologically fragile betas collapse.

Blazers would have to be idiots for not offering Vonleh & the 1st rd pick they got from the Cavs since they are going to be capped out.

I'm not sure what the Magic are trying to do at this point.....They are Suns East: a rebuilding process that looked promising early, but all of the sudden everything went south..just all over the place..

Korver isn't what he used to be but off the bench for CLE he should be a really good contributor. Will get open looks. Great spot for him.

(any) a shooter around Lebron = scary proposition..

When healthy, I don't see why the Cavs shouldn't be favorite over GSW if if they meet again with how that match-up has evolved both tactically and mentally....
