OL/DL Jake Raulerson has decided to play in the Army Bowl instead of the Under Armour game because he wants to be with his future teammates. OL Darius James is the only Texas commit currently scheduled to play in the Under Armour game.
More on WR Eldridge Massington from OrangeBloods...not many details were given, but the staff is apparently turning up their efforts with him and are expected to be at West Mesquite early next week.

Quick quotes from WR Robbie Rhodes (24/7). FYI that his stat line for his junior year was 47 receptions, 1,315 yards and 21 TDs. That includes his 10 reception, 390 yards, 8 TD performance against OL/DL A'Shawn Robinson's team.
“I’m not even sure who I have offers from,” Rhodes said Wednesday night. “I know Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech have (offered). I’ve been in basketball and now track, so I haven’t been thinking about recruiting.”
“Texas was by the school last Friday," he said. "I haven’t really been talking to coaches at schools, but I’m going to go to visit Texas with my mom and dad after the state track meet.”
“I’m kind of wide open right now. I know some schools have come by, but I haven’t seen them because of track," he said. "I know the University of Houston (where his father played) was by, and Texas.”
“I’m running the 200, 4X100 and 4X200 relays. We should get to state in the relays," he said. "I ran a 21.7 at the district meet, but I have run 21.4 laser and a 21.07 hand timed this year.”
I may be reading too much into this but this tweet from cayleb jones concerns me about his mental makeup and drive to be great at football

I wish I woulda stuck with basketball sometimes.
I wouldn't worry about it. I've read a couple reports that he spends a lot of spare time at the practice facility doing his best to prepare for the upcoming season (mainly speaking with the QBs and learning the playbook). He's been known to throw tantrums on the field at times and gets criticized for it, but I think a lot of that is due to his compe iveness. He's not going to dog it. Guy had over a 1,000 yards receiving this year on an Austin High team that was bottom of the barrel in the state (2-9 record).

yeah i know i'm reading too much into it but WR is a position known to produce head cases and unrealized potential but i know he is still a highschool kid trying to figure things out
Massington says it's not too late for Texas, but they've gotta repair relationship. He felt "disrespected" by not getting offered at JD2.
DB Maurice Smith of Fort Bend Dulles continues to blow up. Added Florida and FSU to his resume this week.
Samples is still a major Texas lean. And personally I like Rhodes as next offer. Film of each below for comparison.

I haven't seen that quote but odd that he would say that considering both he and Miles mentioned after the second Junior Day that they understood Texas would be taking their time with offers this year. Anyway, Massington is scheduled to meet with the staff after the state track meet comes to a close. Like we've discussed before, his track times are getting him quite a bit of attention.
Former Texas RB Traylon Shead, who is now enrolled at Navarro JC, has already picked up a D1 offer; Arkansas called the other day. Hope the kid gets another shot.
I go back and forth with who I'd prefer and I think I like Massington more, but I'd be happy with Rhodes. If Texas does offer another WR, I wouldn't be surprised if Rhodes gets the nod because the staff may think Massington wants to keep things open for a while. There's also been talk of UT offering Rhodes as an ATH for a couple of months now, but not sure the staff would go that route with limited numbers.

Junior CB A.J. White has elected to transfer and will depart @MBTexasFootball after two seasons.

Not a huge surprise and that one has been coming. I think CB Duke Thomas has even passed him on the depth chart already. I expect a couple of more before the season starts.
Thanks, rkell87.
I guess we'll see what he's saying after Wyatt visits West Mesquite next week.
any idea how all these guys leaving affects our scholarships for the '13 class? do we still only take 20 and load up in a loaded '14 class with a lot of future seniors leaving in that class?
