Back in late `99...I bought the newly introduced Audi TT coupe...black with the grey leather...aluminum interior,etc...

For the time it was very different and had a lot of mojo.
The interior was a really cool place to be in and the Quattro AWD was nice in inclement weather-took it up to Big Bear,Cali in the snow and took a few road trips up to northern california also. I enjoyed it.

2001 had a BMW 3 series, sport pkg, pretty nice ride also. Probably the best car I've owned. Since I kinda got it out of my system...I started buying cheaper cars and using my funds for other things that didn't lose their value so fast, but it was cool to experience having a cool car.

If I hit the lotto-that Bentley coupe or the Aston Martin Coupe look pretty sweet.

I've always liked the 944's. A buddy of mine used to have one...that car was a uva lot of fun to ride in.

My senior year in high school/first year of college I drove a solid white 1956 Chevy Bel-Air(4 door sedan). That thing was such a pimp machine. I still have it, but the engine gave up the ghost years ago and it's been sitting ever since. I'd love to fix it up and roll it again but I just don't know if I'm ever gonna have the time or money to do it. I'm seriously considering selling it.

One of my proudest moments with that car was this one night at the club when I managed to pick up this chick who I thought was way out of range for me. I got her number, but she said she was riding with friends and couldn't go anywhere after that but we could hook up tomorrow. I asked her if she wanted to at least walk with me to my car. We walked across the parking lot and there it was, sitting under a light freshly washed and waxed.

    "Wow, this is your car?"

    "Yes it is."

Had an '80 L88 Vette I bought from a rich boy whose daddy owned a Chevy dealership. Every year he ordered a new vette and put it in daddy's shop where they turned it into a custom show car for the show circuit...tricked out the motor (about 650hp) and custom paint...it had a pearl white paint job with about 60 coats of lacquer that almost glowed in the dark. It would peg the speedometer at 140 and still have 1200rpm to redline...I never clocked it but I'm pretty sure it would do 170...I ran the absolute crap out of it for a year and then sold it for what I bought it for.

best city cruiser was a hard loaded old school Jeep Grand Wagoneer...

Craziest rig was one I built..an old WWII Willys jeep that I put a Chevy 327 in...It would scratch all 4 tires going into 3rd gear...

Actually the most fun to drive was a racing go-cart like this...

you drove it laying down on your back and looking between your feet and it was literally only 1" off the ground. Had a 10hp engine that would wrap 15,000rpm. Absolutely no torque, but would go 100+mph when you got it wound up. At 100mph iy would feel like you were breaking the land speed record. We would lay out 2-3 mile long "road race courses" in the subdivision and time each other to see who could do it the fastest...the trick was to hit the corners at about 60 and power slide/drift through them without losing rpm...It was funny as coming up behind cars doing 35 and screaming by them at 90 in that little cart...it sounded like a mini-formula one car at speed...we would all make one time run and then lock it back up in the garage before the cops got there.

I have had some great GM cars, Olds 98, Cadillac Coupe Deville, Big block Chevy trucks…But the car that stands out was a 1984 Toyota Cressida…Inline 6 cylinder, dual overhead cam, three performance chip settings with the push of the button factory mounted on the dash, CD, sunroof, everything worked perfectly…The car was absolutely flawless! I had never owned a car before where nothing ever broke…The basic platform later became the Lexus line…

    These are sweet.

Any BMW M car is a great car-pricy but you will never lust for other cars while you have one.

Also had a Lexus for a short time -but the whole time i was lusting after Audi's and Bimmers, so I ended up getting rid of the Lexus.

After driving the BMW for a few years-I was still satisfied and happy with the BMW.

The BMW M cars are also on my -win the lotto- shopping list.

this is true. although it sounds conceited and shows off the BMW drivers are stuck up bias. But it is damn true.

of course I'm talking about the M cars. they have the perfect balance between luxury, sport, comfort, power, etc.

I know you guys are talking the M series, but maybe the BMW is a guy thing? I always lusted for BMWs, and in 1994 purchased a brand new 325is; great car, but after about a year, the thrill was gone

And it was a real bummer writing $600 checks after that honeymoon period.

totally different. a regular bmw 3 series is comparable to a honda. Not exciting at all has a little more luxury and safer thats it. It's still nice and safe don't get me wrong, but no way it is even close to an M.

I agree somewhat, although you can get a non-M- 3 series and add the sport pkg-which gives you the sport suspension, sport seats which are outstanding, get the manual tranny,etc...

although not an M- car it still handles beautifully, the steering is so perfect and it looks pretty cool with the upgraded wheels,tires,etc...

I would disagree with the honda comparison if you are talking about a sport pkg equipped 3 series.

Lately, BMW has added the 335 engine to the regular 3 series...now this is a turboed-300 plus horsepower engine.....still not an M...but it is blurring the line a little bit...especially when you consider the thousands of bux in savings.

    I once drove an M-5 for a week and , wow...this was a pimp-mobile if I ever saw one...

    it had the 400 hp V-8, leather/suede upholstery, suede/alcantara lined roof,dash,doors,etc...stick shift and a big comfy car,too...

    a true 4 door executive wolf-in sheep's clothing experience.

Although a bigger car and less agile than a M-3, boy what a long distance cruise missile that was. Yeah, I am a pretty big BMW fan....the only thing that pushed me away temporarily-was that in BANGLE bull styling...thank god Chris Bangle is not the head of BMW design anymore-but that is another thread there for any car buffs...

    rambling...over.

I know it's not a car, but it's close enough ... and way cooler than anything else in this thread....
