I'll take Jimmy Butler over almost every alternative out there right now. I never would have chosen Jimmy over Kawhi, but I"d take him easily over all the trash that's getting offered up lately. And also, if that means Kyrie would want to come play with him, then even better.

Bulls are a terribly run franchise now. The owner has issues with GM, GM has issues with Coaches, Coaches has issues with players. They wanted to tank but the league stepped in.
I mean Jimmy complained that practices weren't hard enough and that teammates are lazy, wonder how he'll feel about LMA showing up overweight or when Pop wants to rest him.

    Three way trade:

-Spurs get Butler and Miami's unprotected 2020 pick.
-Wolves get Covington and a Philly 1st round pick.
    -Sixers get Kawhi.

    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybmx468w

-Spurs get as close a player as they probably can ever get to a Kawhi type, and a lottery pick.
-Wolves get a great 3 and D guy (who also led the league in +/- for small forwards) to pair with Wiggins and KAT, and a 1st round pick.
-Sixers get Kawhi by only giving up Covington and two draft picks.

    Win/win/win. Imvho.

Minny ain't going to agree to give up the second best player in the deal and come out a distant third in a three team trade.

I think Jimmy is a real leader. Might be eccentric or demanding but he’s a leader. The best player available if they want to remain compe ive right now.

Them going from Butler to Covington is probably similar to us going from Kawhi to Butler, tbh. You never win when trading away a disgruntled star.

In any case, there are many assets that can be proposed to make the deal more appealing to Minnesota. A Saric, maybe.

Yeah, Philly would have to give up more to Minny to make that work.

Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, arguably the premiere Wolves reporter in the country, told KFAN's Dan Barreiro on Monday that "some pretty good news" could come out this week. "There is the potential for some pretty good news to come out of here over the next four or five days, we'll see if it happens or not," said Krawczynski, who is in Las Vegas covering the Wolves' Summer League team.
Krawczynski confirmed that Karl-Anthony Towns could begin discussions with the Wolves this week regarding a possible five-year, $180 million contract extension, but that's not what Krawcyznski was referring to with his cryptic words.
"There is another thing that I have kind of been summoned out here to do, so we'll see how that goes," he said.
If anything, Krawczynski has created some suspense, especially because his mysterious mission comes on the heels of multiple reports that suggest Jimmy Butler doesn't like playing with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, and that Towns has had his own issues with Minnesota's front office. in Wolves nation.

Gasol and David Lee with Jimmy Buckets

Can you imagine if Butler wanting to go to San Antonio because of Gasol? Gasol's contract would automatically pay for itself.

Thibs would kill Kawhi by playing him 40+ minutes a game. Do it RC.
Just to see this would be well worth it! Do it RC!

naw............. Jimmy Butler is top 20 in the league, KL is top 3.

We need another player along with Butler and a pick. I dont see anyone outside of Wiggins I would take.

Ideally the Spurs would like to acquire Butler without moving Leonard and Aldridge. Spurs would at least have a new big 3 if that ever happened.

Butler for Leonard works straight up in ESPN NBA trade machine. If Minny throws in some picks it might be the best value Spurs can get for Leonard right now. Wolves would have a 1 year rental of Kawhi. I know top 3 for top 20 player but the market for Kawhi isn't hot right now. Teams probably scared he ain't going to play.

Of course, but that does not necessarily translate into friendship.
Meanwhile i hope he recruits his brother as our starting center someday.....
