It wouldn't be so bad, but chumps ego is the size of China, and when he is shown to be indisputably wrong about something even with evidence, he reacts defensively as if he is being humiliated.
It is as if he has a huge inferiority complex, thus he cannot ever admit he is wrong because he equates that with being weak, rather than simply human and imperfect.
