Thats really not a good measure of much of anything. Gas prices are so volatile based on so many things. 9/11 stirred up tensions with the middle east, driving gas north. Hurricanes, inflationary markets, Iraq and a mul iude of other things can effect it. In fact, my assumption is that, with the doubling of the money supply, Obama won't get a fair shake in the long-run on the fuel price measure as inflation could quickly be an issue.
A better measure would be tax rates. They're going up. But Bush quickly drove them down once he got into office. Obama has promised a tax cut, but has seen fit to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010 (and he formerly voted against making those cuts permanent). Will Obama stick by his word in the long run? Or will he simply let the heightened Clintonian tax rates prevail?
