Exactly timvp. From a basketball standpoint Mohammed has to shine to make this deal worthwhile. Otherwise Mohammed is not worth what the Spurs gave up. Financially is another matter...

    True.

If Nazr averages around 10 points and 8 rebounds, this is a steal. If he plays a Massenburg/Willis role, the Spurs got robbed.

    We'll see.

    good trade.

If Nazr isnt a peanut head, his defense, atheltic ability, and great lowpost scoring are gonna be awesome.

Nazr can move unbelieveably quick, and, for all you Rasho haters, he dunks constantly.

Also, the Spurs have two LEGIT 7 footers, and if Nazr plays well enough to start??

Rasho off the bench will be awesome, because it would mean Rasho can play sans duncan on the court.

    This trade could be fantastic.

Im sure though the haters of the Spurs management, will say its all about money blah blah blah.

IMO, they got a taller, more talented player out of the deal.

    BRING IT ON!!!

The deadline was over two hours ago, but if teams had deals on the table they are given time by the league to finalize them.

Reality is he's been averaging 3 and 3 the last week for a team whose only other true big man was Vin Baker.

Maybe Pop will work a miracle.

In Pops system I don't see him averaging 10 points.

Isn't that what he was averaging in New York around horrible front court players??

With Duncan holding up the strong side rebounding wise, Muhammed will get alot of balls his way, and his athleticism will get him alot more.

Blocked shots wise, the Spurs average will shoot up.

Did Malik put a gun to Pop's head when they gave him that contract?
He didn't have to hold a gun to his head...he had Tim Duncan has his friend. As far as that goes, he was holding all the cards.

Nazr is only 6-9 or 6-10. But yes, he's significantly taller than Rose.

    Two first round draft picks?

    Damn.

That makes it a little harder to swallow. Unless the Spurs expect big things from Nazr, it doesn't make sense to trade Rose and two first round draft picks just to get rid of him.

Now if Nazr starts in place of Rasho, this is a steal.
Only if Nazr can grasp Pop's defensive scemes as well as Rasho. I still think if Nazr is the first big man off the bench this is a great thing for the Spurs. He will get to play with both Tim and Rasho. Horry can be saved for the playoffs, Mass can be used to mussle oppentents big man when needed.

As for the two first round draft picks, isnt one of them from Suns this year? and do we really need 1st round rookie next year? The Spurs will be integrating Scola and hopefully LJIII into the active roster. Would there be any room for anther player?

Malik got his contract with the Spurs because the Lakers made him a similar offer and the Spurs wanted to keep him ... he didn't get it because he's Duncan's friend.

I think it's a good trade for the Spurs....talent level wise...another good big to bang in the west. I just find it hard to see Malik go considering he has always played the lakers tough.

2 first round picks....I guess it can be seen as 1 since one is phoenix's and with how well they are playing ..it's going to be a low pick.
Also with the Spurs planning on bringing in Scola...that is one less contract to worry about.

Those picks are likely #29 this year and #30 or so next year. How many foreign point guards do the Spurs need, after all?

    Shoogar,

"You killed my family, prepare to die" lol. Awesome picture.

Well Mohammed is 6 10 ALMOST 7 foot.

But, hes significantly bigger than Rose, and hes IMO a little quicker, and be able to guard Stoudamire and a guy like Rasheed Wallace better than Duncan or Nesterovic.

This trade, if Mohammed has his head on straight, is so good its not even funny.

I have a question, has he had problems in the past that I missed? You said "if he's not a peanut head" and now that comment above. Does he have a history?
