    Oh, I see.

I wouldn't mind Rasho returning to Europe, but I think there's gonna be some NBA team offering him a contract and he'll stay.

Well, Buford says he's under the impression that Splitter is staying in Europe, but has also said he wants to bring over a couple of overseas players. Could just mean Gist and Nichols, but then again...

Javtokas had a new interview posted with Lithuanian media in the past 48 hours.

In it he says that he would like to return to play at the Euroleague level and reveals that he will take less money to do so than he's been making with Dynamo. He says "In the past, I was probably more concerned with the contract amount, but things have changed."

He says he wants the stability and high level compe ion of the euroleague, and that his life is different now with a family (he has had 2 kids with his wife since the summer of 06). He said that if the wife and kids weren't happy with the environment then he couldn't be happy.

Apparently he is currently without a contract.

He is pretty much out of the picture now. Like Shelden Williams, he could have been an intriguing option before the draft but now there is just no room for him.

While I agree he's probably out of the picture, I disagree on the reasons. The big difference between Javtokas and Blair is that Javtokas is a big-time shot blocker. Blair's not a shotblocker. Wouldn't surprise me if Blair is the better rebounder, but Javtokas is a specialist.

That being said, if things quickly get away from the Spurs soon after July 1 and Gortat, Wallace, McDyess and Pachulia commit to other teams . . . and Javtokas is a free agent, I could see a reasonable case for signing him. LLE would probably work.

i dont know about you guys but i would take this over gortat sheed or any other center currently available. this guy can be had for alot less and could be a building block after tim leaves. i drool over the thought of him and splitter together after timmy moves on.

Well you can go back in the history of this forum and there probably weren't bigger supporters of signing Javtokas in summer 06 than me or Mr. Body. And history at least vindicates us on how bad Elson and Butler were.

    But

The video of the 12 foot dunk was before the motorcycle accident, he can't do that now.

There is another 4+ minute Javtokas highlight video that is much better than the 2 minute cobblejob I threw together.

Furthermore, he's added weight. Not fat, but he's even bigger now. Good for covering the big guys, like Shaq or Yao, but he would have problems guarding quicker, face up big men. And his offensive game has never improved, he's still pretty brutal when not finishing close to the rim. And he's 29 now. Not ancient, after all everybody's celebrating over a 29 year old Jefferson.

Do I still want him? I think I'd rather have Gortat for more money, and I'm not a big Gortat fan. But Gortat is about 4 years younger and a little bigger and already experienced in the NBA. And last I saw of Javtokas I think if there is an agility and lateral quickness advantage I'd give a nod to Gortat.

But if Gortat is out, then sure I'd like Javtokas. He is what he is, a shotblocking enforcer.

the first one I threw together just to show fans on a forum who hadn't seen much of him or crawled through the internet to watch crappy live feeds of LKL finals games of Rytas vs. Zalgiris like I did. Later on one of them put it on youtube.

There's a much better videos of him out there. I haven't watched any of his Russian games, just his national team play.

Here's a video, all of the Rytas team footage is at least 3 years old. The national team footage looks like it has some more recent stuff.
