    The creation of this thread reeks of scared Laker fan who's trying to convince himself that his team is still the heavy favorite to win the West. Fact is, Dallas, Denver, and Utah all have a substantial chance of knocking off the Lakers.

    Mavs are the team best equipped in the west to take it to the Lakers because they have a balanced O, solid D and have a high IQ. Lakers have their work cut out for them.

    The Lakers are still the favorites and they should be. But the Jazz, Nuggs and Mavs all have a decent shot at upsetting them. To deny otherwise is just silly.

    Jazz? They can't win in LA and LA is more than capable of winning in Utah. I don't see it. They also don't have the D to contain the Lakers O.

    Nuggets? They would push the Lakers like they did last year. Problem is Martin's injury is vital and they don't play very good D. Beating LA in a shootout is bad strategy. Add to that, they aren't a very smart basketball team.

    Mavs? I give them the best shot if healthy. They have a frontline that can hang with the Lakers. They play solid D and are well balanced.
