If you want to gain muscle with the least amount of fat, do a clean bulk.

Try adding some Vitamin C with Rose Hip if you're a vitamin taker. It helped me with my sore hips. I complain about it all the time in this thread, but the Rose Hips are like natural advil and are great.
i will keep that in mind and i was reading when you had the hip thing. thats when i was down due to ac ies but didnt want to bug the thread even though i was looking for help. basically my research said to just rest it so thats what i did. first time i ran after healed, i beat my best mile time by 21 seconds

Oh no, throw out any problems you have. I think we've all learned tons from this thread. Or at least I have. And stretching. Pre-run stretching has really helped me. Maybe some leg lifts and squat type things would help with the achillies.

I'm running for about 45 minutes with a 5 minute cool down (so a 12 minute pace).

well as much of a novice at all this as i am, i was going for 175. now im below with just a little more fat to burn so i'd say my new goal before bulk is 165

I think most mma fighters train for strength. You could add compound exercises to your routine. You will gain strength and some size.

strength is on the list but more important would be, explosiveness, endurance, cardio, flexibilty ect
the results i have gotten so far are from-
working the heavy bag ( which id say im pretty darn good at now)
speed bag (pretty good at that too)
focus mitts with a buddy (that will just grind you down if youre finishing your rounds)
    jumprope
free weights (all different kinds of i can make up to keep it freash)
and then on opposite days, running as many miles as i can

I just started doing 100 hindu squats after my rides recently. That is brutal but keeps my legs feeling fresh after. Been trying to incorporate more body weight exercises into my routine.

If you really benched 600 pounds, you should probably get into power lifting, since the world record for 220 ponder is 580 pounds.

Good for you! It's so great to know/see changes. I found a pair of jeans I threw in a pile of junk about a year ago because I wasn't able to fit in them....put 'em on and now they're too big. I still have about 10 more pounds to go before I get to where you are, but I can feel it getting closer!

    No way you are 180ish?

earlier this year i was at 196. today i weigh 172.(for reference, im 6' barefoot) i figure in 2-3 more weeks ill be at my bottom weight. then ill start putting on muscle. not that im not adding alot of muscle now, ill just turn most of my focus from cardio/conditioning to muscle gain. yall know what i mean. it feels so good to do what im doing
You're doing it the hard way if you want muscle mass. Start weight training now and eat 6-8 small meals per day consisting of 40% complex carbs 40% protein and 20% healthy fats and you will lose fat faster while gaining muscle mass.
