Robert Quiroga Murdered

Prominent San Antonio boxer Robert Quiroga, the first San Antonian to win a world boxing title, was found murdered today on the city's northwest side, police and family members tell 1200 WOAI news.

Quioroga, 35, won the IBF Super Flyweight title in a bout against Akeem Anifowoshe at Hemisfair Arena in June of 1991 that "Ring" magazine dubbed the 1991 Fight of the Year. Quiorga held the title against two opponents before losing it to Julio Cesar Borboa in 1993, in the first loss of his career. After losing again two years later to Ancee Gedeon at Freeman Coliseum, Quiroga retired from boxing.

"A passerby flagged down an officer about three this morning, and told the officer there was a body lying next to a car at Interstate 10 and Red Oak," Police spokesman Sgt. Gabe Trevino said.

Quiroga had been stabbed repeatedly and was pronounced dead at University Hospital. Trevino said Quiroga had been drinking with friends at a bar at Interstate 10 and Wurzbach, three blocks from where his body was found. There are no suspects and no motive for the murder, which is under investigation as a homicide.

Quiroga, a fiesty 5 foot 4, was known as "Pikin." He fought around the world during his eight year career, including bouts in Italy, England, and at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.

it was reported, this evening on the 9 o'clock news that "pikin" was at a friend's house, in the i 10/wurzbach road area, and he & another person @ the house got into an argument, then went out into the back yard to drink beer, and the next thing they knew, they were gone ?

the next thing they knew, robert quiroga was found dead, with multiple stab wounds, mostly in the back, lying in the side of the access road of ih 10 !

what a chicken-shit !

he probably knew that quiroga would beat the living crap outta this guy, so he has to stab him several times in his back !

they'll find him ...

the story has it that he left with a friend in a tow truck, so all the police has to do is have all the tow truck companies check their gps, and find out where they were at the approx time of the crime !
