You called it
Partizan coach Dusko Vujošević said that the San Antonio Spurs explicitly said Davis Bertans needs a slower recovery from knee injury."Despite the fact that rehabilitation is very good, the request to delay came from the San Antonio Spurs. Instead of six months, he will be missing four to eight months more. Probably in March he will be ready and able to play," said Partizan coach Dusko Vujošević

Played 1on1 today for the first time... Need to get in better shape, but most important that my legs are feeling good #CominBack
How's Matt Bonner's replacement coming along with his injury? Wasn't the time table for return around this time?
He's suppose to return to play for Partizan in late february or march.
Best case scenario as an NBA player: Chandler Parsons
what's the latest on his recovery? seeing as he is one of our more likely acquisitions for next year, i'd love to see him get some games in before the summer
Partizan's coach Vujosevic said that Bertans is recovering pretty good, and he might come back earlier than expected. The preliminary come back date was late february or march. Also some rumors that his older brother might sign for Partizan.Interesting to know if that changes his future plans somehow.
I'm guessing there's no way we can buy this guy out and bring him over this year?
I think it is possible to bring him over, but I don't know how much he'd be able to bring this year because he's recovering from an injury, doesn't know the system, pretty young, etc. If they did bring him over this year, it would probably still be with next year in mind.
Just an interesting fact - in less than a year, 3 Partizan (the club Bertans plays for) players had the same injury - ACL tear. I don't think this could be a coincidence, honestly.
Partizan legendary endless practices might not be the best thing for players health.
I'm torn between wanting the team to sign him when he gets healthy this season and them waiting until the off-season as to not was an accrued season on a couple of months. The team has enough of the MLE to sign him for up to four seasons. But a three-year deal is probably best for both sides, and I'm not really keen on only getting two real seasons out of him.
I'm for it if there's a roster spot available for him after the March 1st waiver deadline. It would be nice to save all of next year's MLE for other players.

The countdown in my head gets louder every day... In less than a month i'll be back in Belgrade! Can't wait! #Comeback
Just in time for the Spurs to buy him out and bring him over to fill that 15th spot.
dude's not coming over till next season at the earliest and more likely in 2 seasons in my opinion.
Probably not this season. How he looks this year will determine whether the Spurs try to bring him over, in my opinion.
So, he comes next year...1 year in the Dleague, then another year warming the bench then 2 years learning the system...
Bertans will play his first game after injury on February 16th.
Those ARE his two years learning the system.
