I have read that you have to wait a couple of weeks to perform the surgery in order to allow swelling and bleeding to decrease.
Plus the physio is needed to rebuild muscles preemptively, in order to avoid a complete loss of muscle mass post surgery.

Looks like he's not going to Barcelona either now. Either his injury is too much risk for a buyout or perhaps Spurs have an inkling that they might need to bring him over this coming season...
