Well I forgot the passkey to my router so I can connect my Xbox to it. I set it up over a year ago and tried every pass I could imagine to no avail.

What do I need to do to reset my router and make a new password but yet still keep it to where assholes in my neighborhood cannot connect to it and leech off me?

Tell us the brand and model first of all.

But if it's anything like mine, there's a reset button on the back that you use a pen or something sharp to poke it. Leave it pressed for 20 seconds, while still leaving it pressed, disconnect the modem from the outlet, continue leaving it pressed for like 30 seconds and then release it. Turn it on and everything should be in factory default mode.

Find your router's user manual (look for it online if you don't have one) and follow the instructions in there. A reset button should be involved.

Wait, which password can't you remember? The one to connect to the network (internet access), or the one used to access the router's settings? If you can still access the router's settings, you can see/change the password there.

I figured it out. Had to run the Netgear disc and start from scratch. SMH

If you didn't change it, it should've been on the router itself. Its labeled passkey or something like that
