Looking forward to seeing the Flounders Sunday.
Jun 22, 2012 - Hanyer Mosquera will miss Sunday's game against the Seattle Sounders after the MLS Disciplinary Committee handed down a three-game suspension to the Portland Timbers centerback on Friday. Mosquera was ruled to have hit LA Galaxy forward Jack McBean and the action was deemed "violent conduct, outside the scope of play and endangered McBean’s safety."
In the 4th minute of stoppage time last Sunday, Mosquera was fighting for a ball with McBean as the Galaxy were clinging to a 1-0 lead. A foul was called at the time, but no card was given. Replays show Mosquera clearly hitting McBean in the jaw with what very much looked like a purposeful swing.
Losing Mosquera is surely a blow to the Timbers, who are facing their arch-rivals this weekend in a game that is made doubly important by the fact that they've won just one of their past six games. Mosquera has started 10 games for the Timbers, who have allowed just 10 goals in his starts, while allowing six goals in their three other games.
I didn't see anything during the game. Any clue on what he did?
3 game suspension is harsh as . I don't like this comitee at all.
Weird. I watched that entire game and don't remember that. McBean is going to be a beast. Hope he gets more time soon.
Horse . I usually welcome any clubs supporters here. Not this weekend.
While RSL is in another Galaxy lost in space.
Rumors this morning that Andrei Shevsheynko has signed a DP deal with DCU
Nice tifo. And if you took that, looks like you got good seats too.
My wife got me tickets for the game on 10/7 in Seattle. Gonna be a great one. Most if not all of Century Link will be open for that one. 64,000 plus. Hope it comes down to SEA or a PDX win for Cascadia on this game. Screw the Whitecaps!!
Yep, I took that pic from my seat. I would like to go up for the game on 10/7. We'll see.
Very nice! As a huge Sounder fan & an ECS member it's hard to follow the Timbers, but I do. I've enjoyed watching some of their games. If you make it up in Oct we ought to have a beer & give each other . lol Well, at least you can have the beer (I quit drinking) but still nice to meet fans of opposing teams. Either way, I hope the Sounders can get their heads out their arses soon.
What was up with Freddy Montero on Sunday? Haven't watched too may Sounders games lately but hows his form? He never seemed to find the game at all.
Freddy may have been a little too amped up. He spent more time giving cheap shots and coimplaining to the refs than he did playing soccer. These Timbers vs Sounders games are intense and the atmosphere is electric. I think the players need to make sure they stay calm.
I'll let you know if I make it up there. I think Seattle will be fine when they have all their guys available.
Portland pretty much shut down Montero. He couldn't get anything going. He's been a bit butthurt now that Eddie Johnson is picking up steam. Montero is a bit of a diva.
Sounders finally got a win! 1-0 over the Quakes in US Open cup. Gordon got a straight red in stoppage for San Jose. Chippy game.
Chivas got a win over Charlotte 2-1 in stoppage.
