"a new video today from al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri is also calling for international intervention against Bashar Assad, urging Muslim fighters from neighboring nations to join the rebels."

On the other hand, Dr. Paul is the only one on the right side of the argument:
"So where is our Middle East policy? IT IS A TOTAL MESS. And yes, this is also the fault of Secretary Clinton. I like and respect Secretary Clinton, but the current policy unfolding in the Middle East may show some strokes of tactical brilliance, but the strategic vision is zero. We are now on a collision path for a war with Iran while having lost significant influence over the key Sunni nations–Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

We are now in a position that we may act in Syria to counter Iranian influence and, whether by design or by accident, will empower the most radical elements of Sunni Islam. Those radical Sunnis have populated the ranks of Al Qaeda over the past 20 years. U.S. influence in the region has eroded dramatically. Egypt is trying to prosecute democratic activists and the Muslim Brothers will be in full control of the Parliament. Our relationship with Turkey also has soured."

What is the Syrian uprising all about? That’s an easy one. The Sunni Saudis are financing the Sunnis in Syria to get rid of the governing Alawite clique. The Syrian army is Alawite-led, the Alawites being a minority and an offshoot of Shia Islam. Get it? The Saudis fear Shiite Iran, which is helping Assad. The Sunni-led kleptocracies of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf are posturing and threatening war against Iran’s Shiites and Syria’s Shiite-Alawite regime. It is the game of nations, a fight between Sunnis and Shiites in reality, but I don’t expect many of the Super Bowl-winning team’s defensive linemen to understand it.

Oh and by the way, the side backed by the U.S. government seems to be killing Christians:
The Christian community in Syria has been hit by a series of kidnappings and brutal murders; 100 Christians have now been killed since the anti-government unrest began.
A reliable source in the country, who cannot be identified for their own safety, told Barnabas Aid that children were being especially targeted by the kidnappers, who, if they do not receive the ransom demanded, kill the victim.
Next time you hear Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum tell you he's got the magic formula for the Mideast, look at Ron Paul and ask yourself why he's considered the crazy one on the stage.

The United States should arm and assist Syrian opposition forces working to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Sunday.

Lieberman, who chairs the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, said the Pentagon is putting plans together and that it is time to "help the brave Syrian freedom fighters."

Besides , is there anything you would like to add? Perhaps a workable solution that follows the teachings of your messiah?

Are you referring to Syria? Easy, don't support terrorists in that country. Stay off the fight, and if you want support with humanitarian, diplomatic avenues.

But anyway, it's too late, CIA is already supporting "freedom fighters" with tactical info, maybe even supplying arms.

Who ever made up the rule that we have to intervene in every single civil war in every country??
