Jackson can only be traded with his consent due to NBA rules.
    Jackson's response:

    YES.

SJ has played for 7 different teams in 13 years (including the Spurs way back when). Getting out of RJs contract is great but inheriting a guy who might be a chemistry problem is another...

If he can play D, hit a couple of 3s from the corner, hustle, rebound and keep his mouth shut to the officials, then I'm all for it.

But if he comes here, starts expecting to start and receive the ball in regular rotation like he did playing w/ weaker teams just a few years ago, watch out...

    Awesome!!!

There's a good chance that he will hit more 4th quarter shots than RJ come playoff time. That alone is worth the trade.

Congrats to the FO for pulling the trigger on this!!!!

Stephen Jackson behaved in San Antonio because he needs the discipline of a tough system. He goes willy-nilly crazy when there's not someone strong to keep him in check. If you don't think Pop and TD will keep him in check, then that's fine, but there's honestly no reason to think that he could chemistry problems here.

    And he probably will start.
Exactly. Jax knows the Spurs are a no nonsense organization. He needed this.

How so ? Spurs added 4th deadly weapon. Good defender, good shooter, could fit immediately. He is hungry of basketball and playing in conteder.
    Good shooter?

Compare SJ and RJs percentages...hate to admit it but RJ is clearly a better shooter and scorer.

RJ may not fit the Spurs system very well but SJ isn't the pick because of his shooting by any means.

You do realize we've won a le with him before. He has respect for this organization and this organization respects him.

Tbh, I think this is a good trade for now and in the future.
I don't see how losing a first round pick and adding a 34 years old player is good for the future.

RJ's contract wasn't a problem (except for Holt) because Spurs had the amnesty slot and RJ was the only serious candidate.

For the record, I quite like this trade. It will make Spurs more fun to watch and it's a great financial move. Saying that, it doesn't really help Spurs down the road.

It's not about percentages. It's about balls.

I don't get it (maybe I'm too new age).

But, I'm 41, have lived in grew up in S Texas (CC to be exact) and have been a fan ever since the Gervin days (yes, through the Dawkins faze and all the way past Robinson until now).

Clutch shooting is better skill then % shooting. Stephen Jackson can be used as closer. RJ cant. He choke.

    BINGO.

If 34 defensive minded SFs are what we need, then we should've kept Bowen.

Every team in the league, maybe outside of the Knicks, would trade a late first rounder for $10 million or whatever it is. So yeah, it's a great financial trade.

If SJax actually plays, he'll be an upgrade from RJ if only from a compe ive standpoint. It's rare to do a salary dump that could also make you better on the basketball court.

Word. I was not a fan of how he exited San Antonio but even if all you knew about Jackson is what's happened in the last five years this guy's "honeymoon period" is no joke for a team that needs to win now. A little motivation goes a long way with this guy.

As of now I believe. They have till next Friday to use that player for the playoffs. (I don't know if I'm explaining that correctly but saw it via Twitter)
