Alien was probably one of the best sci-fi horror movies ever written.

Ridley Scott said that it isn't a prequal to Alien.

Conceived as a prequel to Scott's 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, rewrites of Spaihts' script by Lindelof developed a separate story that precedes the events of Alien, but which is not directly connected to the films in the Alien franchise. According to Scott, though the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak", and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus will explore its own mythology and ideas. Principal photography began in March 2011, with filming taking place in England, Iceland, and Spain. Prometheus is scheduled for release between May 30 and June 8, 2012 in various territories through 20th Century Fox. ----from Wikipedia.

We will however find out what happened to that alien pilot (from the first Alien movie).

I actually didn't know it was legitimately tied to Alien. I knew nothing of the movie, but saw Ridley Scott was involved and it looked like an alien movie so I thought they were making some very poorly hidden attempt to dupe the public.

But Scott rewrote it and took out the alien prequel aspect

Elba's Southern accent was pretty funny.

I have to assume that the British version of Southern accents sounds to us like the catchall Cockney/pirate British accent of ours sounds to folks in the UK.



In any case, I'm eagerly anticipating this one. Scott has always been hit or miss as a director for me (well, Ridley, at least; brother Tony is just a fucking hack), but I'm a big enough fan of the Alien franchise/universe that I even kind of like the cubed and fourth installments.

Not to mention that Elba + Fassbender + Pearce = my monies.
