lol@ that ghostbusters gif.
smh@ baseline putting too short albums over 2pacs. I give too short credit for being a pioneer for raunchy raps, but his shit is very elementary.

Dope Fiend Beat and Cusswords both beat anything 2Pac has ever done.
I disagree. I like short for his raw raps but he aint fucking with anybody on your list when it comes to actual mic skills.
Have you heard blow the whistle?
Couldn't ever get into Deltron 3030, which is weird because I love Dr Octagon.
I think it's cuz I like the kool keith part of octagon more than automator

RIP whottt
QBert was a pretty big part of Dr Octagon too. I hate how the DJ started getting taken out of hip hop about the time Dre make laid back funk samples really popular.
Was qbert doing the scratching?
I'm nowhere near as well versed in good hip hop as you, but Dr octagon definitely has some of the tightest scratching I've heard
I wasn't a big fan of Blow the Whistle, but that verse about Nancy Reagan in Cusswords was incredible. I never thought Pac's lyrical skills were that amazing; his greatest asset to me has always been his storytelling. That's why I liked 2Pacalypse Now so much with songs like Soulja's Story, Brenda's Got a Baby, Violent, Part Time Mother, etc.
EDIT: Oops, I take it back; Pac killed at the end of Same Song, which is probably the greatest verse of his career. Damn, I wish he would have stuck with that sound.

Yeah, that's all QBert. If you buy the instrumental version of the album it has an incredible remix of Bear Witness. The instrumental album has a really sick interview of Jeffrey Dahmer put over the music for the track "I'm Destructive" though.![]()
Yeah, I downloaded most of the instrumentals a long time ago
I always say the song Earth People should be the permanent opening song for spurs games...that intro is awesome
Good list, but I don't know if I can get behind something lacking Tribe, Pharcyde, and Black Star.

Automator has an EP with a couple of really solid Kool Keith tracks on it. I can't remember what it's called right now though. Too bad Keith is fucking nuts and bailed on him before they could get a non Octagon album out.
Yeah, they def should be there. Shame for not complaining about KRS missing from the list though.![]()
Kid Koala was good on Deltron 3030.
Crap, Digital Underground's Sex Packets needs to be on that list too.
Gotta have some Doom on that list, too, imho
I don't think Pac was a lyricist either but he's above average. I looked at him more as a Poet than a true lyricist. His storytelling was good not as good as biggies but close.
Does Endtroducing... count? If so, that's my favorite hip hop album. Second would be Midnight Marauders.
KRS One is someone I've had to get into as I've gotten older, and hence he doesn't have that sense of nostalgia that makes him as obvious a choice as some of the others. He seemed awfully loud and shouty back when I was a little white girl listening to rap.
imo pac's best verses were never really on his singles. Death Around the Corner, and Got My Mind Made Up come to mind.
So it goes.
Surprised LJ hasn't come in here to get on me about forgetting the P.A.T. tbh.
I was just about to say what about UGK lol. Seems like most of ya'll like east coast rap, im more of a fan of southern artists.
Got My Mind Made Up has to be one of the best compilations of all-time.
Yup, and they cut Deck's verse for some reason. He says INS the rebel at the very end.
I would also add Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, Only Built for Cuban Linx, Ironman, and Liquid Swords to your list.
"So mandatory my elevation my lyrics like orientation / So you can be more familiar with the nigga you facing"
Probably his nicest verse, tbh.

Hell, Supreme Clientele too.
Damn, that was an incredible album. Loved the What They Do video that shitted all over every Biggie video. Definitely one of the best hip hop videos of all time, though Redman's "I'll Be Dat" has to be #1
My middle name must be "FUCK YOU"
Cause every time I'm in the hood n*gaz be like "FUCK YOU"
I'll Be Dat... I'll Be Dat... I'll Be Dat
My middle name must be "He ain't shit"

I'll Be Dat... I'll Be Dat... I'll Be Dat
Sweet sugar pie....
oh my,
You look so good....
Like I know you should
Oral sex? What kind of class is this?
Girl in the back says 'Whats wrong with you miss?'
Return to the 36 Chambers is maybe the most underrated album in hip hop.
Muddy Waters by Redman is also a fucking classic
