My nuclear reactors are powered my thorium. Well, , they are NOT my reactor. I just support their use, their massive use. What's not to love?
Looking it up? Good. You should. I think the more you learn about thorium fueled molten salt reactors the more you will fall in love with the idea of tens of thousands of these things being used.
Thorium on its own only works about 1/10 as well as uranium in "fast" reactors that aren't currently being used in the US. The best use of thorium is to change it into uranium or use it with plutonium.
Not really tbh. I've only seen one proposed thorium plant and that's definitely changing the thorium to U233 -- which is fine, but not actually fueled by thorium.
