How in the hell does Dallas lose half their team and all of their rebounders, guards and defenders and they sign Brand and Fuckin Kaman and make deals for star players? And the Spurs are still stuck with Matt Playoff Performin Bonner?

    Amnesty his ass now!

Did Dallas get Hettsheimeir also? Maybe we could get him if Brand and Kaman are both signing with Dallas now...

Chill. Dallas will still be a 6-8 seed in the West. Agree on the Spurs though. Glad we re-signed everyone we needed to but we don't stand a chance with this exact same roster.

The Spurs will get Scola. Unfortunately he isn't even as good as he was a few years ago and doesn't solve the weak interior defense for the Spurs.

Another big who plays below the rim. The spurs will be athletically challenged with a bunch of white stiffs who can't jump on the frontline- Splitter, Bonner, Scola.

I take it you didn't include Diaw because he isn't technically white?

I don't even consider Diaw a big. It is a joke the spurs have to use him on the frontline. Diaw can also be considered an athletically challenged stiff.

Duncan is great although the years are catching up with him. But I don't see him getting much help from that below the rim crowd.

Haha, nice trophies. By "best" I meant skill-wise. Or in other words, they had the best chance of winning the west once the postseason started.

This is Sequ's thing. Starts crybaby threads and complains. He's been doing it for years. You can expect to see one of these every few weeks.

Just like you can expect Killbill to defend Greece or you to defend Bonner.

Stop "expecting" NBA championships. Those days are over for the Spurs. Bitching about it makes you look silly.

The fact that they can still deliver the best regular season record and a WCF appearance with their aged and aging core is a feat unto itself. That's as good as it's gonna get for Spurs fans for a long time. Don't complain about it; savor it!

Yeah, I'm normally a lurker on most boards, but for some reason I've gotten sucked in by the Bonner thing here. It's not like I think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but he truly is a HUGE part of why the Spurs win. And the way this board not only doesn't recognize that, but actually posts an insane amount of shit about how bad he is, it gets under my skin. I think it's because I don't like dumb people.

The people who poke fun at Bonner, or at me, that's great, I love it. The people who think he sucks but are open and willing to listen to my arguments (ElNono for example), they're great too. But the drooling retards who spew vile hatred and represent all that is wrong with San Antonio as a city (SeanCagney for example), I just have no respect for at all.

I agree that he's a huge part of why the Spurs win. Which is why it's so fucking frustrating when he goes in the tank every year come playoff time.

Having a genuinely useful player who never holds up his part when it matters most is in many ways worse than having a terrible player, because at least if you have a terrible player, you get used to working around his terribleness and are prepared for it.

And before you go on about statistical significance, I don't care. The simple fact is that he was useless against the Thunder in particular, because they didn't even have to pretend to cover him around the perimeter. You can see it on the game film. They could play a collapsed defense set up to stop our inside scoring and gleefully ignore Bonner in the process, and Bonner did absolutely nothing to make them change that strategy. At that point, you might as well play a garbage-collecting defensive specialist with no range, because the defense collapses either way, and at least he gives you putbacks, plus he helps you more on the other end of the floor.

tbh, I've been fighting the good fight () when it comes to Matty for easily 4+ years... back in the day, there weren't that many Matty haters, and frankly most people bought into the +/- king thing, and the 2nd coming of Horry "space the floor" savior narrative.

While I can't necessarily say you've introduced a novel aspect to the debate, it never gets old to re-hash it, and see fresh faces coming along to discuss it.

Oh, and I don't hate Matty literally. I actually have met the guy personally, and he's very personable and seems like a good guy. I just want him out of my team

    My counterarguments:

    1. The games they lost against the Thunder, except for one, were the games Bonner didn't play.

    2. A lot of people on this board say what you said, about how in the playoffs they're not covering him (some, not you fortunately, rattle on about how it's because he's "scared," as if they somehow have magical insight into his brain). I disagree. You say I can see in on "game film," but I watched the games, and I didn't see this. They have to send out a big to cover him. He's a top-talent NBA 3 pointer. He'd hit open threes with ridiculous accuracy, >60%. They literally HAVE to have a body near him.

What they CAN (and did) do is back that body off a bit more than usual. I fully believe, and I think I'm agreeing with you on this point, that that is the best way to beat the Spurs. You have to choose between giving up a little in points in the paint or on the 3 pt. shot, and the wiser choice is give up a little on the 3 pt. shot.

There are definitely a high number of bad posters. I do consider you as one of the good ones, because despite your love for Bonner, you argue with reason and evidence. And I agree with Bonner being a big reason why we win during the regular season. But like many others, I am fed up with his lack of contributions come playoff time.

I think Bonner struggles so much because he is a one trick pony. The lack of diversity in his game is what really haunts him because teams have him so well scouted by playoff time. Therefore, I'm not sure he'll ever succeed at that level.

Yep they went as a joke and losing Kidd, Terry and not getting Deron or Howard and done to somewhat recovering! They have not had the offseason they wanted at all, but they recovered somewhat with the guys they have gotten lately and been very active to be a playoff team no doubt.
