The real hate crime is the Mayor of Boston denying permits to Chick-fil-A, and the Mayor of Chicago threatening the same, over a lawful position held by the restaurant's owner and President. One held by a President, they both supported, until earlier this year.

The First Amendment generally protects people’s rights to express such views without worrying that the government will deny them business permits as a result. That’s basic First Amendment law — but Alderman Moreno, Mayor Menino, and, apparently, Mayor Emanuel (if his statement is quoted in context), seem to either not know or not care about the law.

Whether or not this turns out to be a crime committed against gays, because they are gay, ignores the fact it is a rare occurrence. The last time I heard of something like this, it was a fake -- two lesbians attempted to frame their neighbor over some dog-poop-in-the-yard dispute.

I fear Boutons doesn't look at it that way. My belief has always been that Boutons throws as much crap at the wall to smear the names of a group of people he does not agree with and hopes it sticks. Usually it's republicans. This thread it's Christians. He may even think they are one in the same. I doubt he believes Obama is a Christian. Let's hope Boutons is a troll. I used to believe that. It's hard for me now because I see how dedicated he is to this site and this forum in particular. I feel Boutons, troll or not has a lot of hate in him. God bless
