I have a few questions for all of you. Let us pretend it passes. Leave the cons ution out of this thread and speak on a personal level.

    1. What do you think this AWB will accomplish?

    2. Will criminals obey?

    3. Why should law abiding citizens be punished for the acts of criminals?

    4. Will you "feel" safer?

    5. Do you really feel it will stop mass murders?

    6. Do you think the government will stop after this ban? Again, we are assuming it is passed.

    7. Do you believe the police have the ability to protect you?

    8. Do you think they have the legal obligation to protect you?

    9. Do you own a gun?

I've yet to hear a convincing argument from the pro AWB side to this day, enlighten me.

    1. What do you think this AWB will accomplish?
    - Get the government sued

    2. Will criminals obey?
    - Nope

    3. Why should law abiding citizens be punished for the acts of criminals?
    - Disagree to characterize it as punishment. I would say it's probably draconian and likely ineffective. Somewhat like the prohibition, but more nuanced, since it wouldn't ban all guns.

    4. Will you "feel" safer?
    - I don't think in those terms

    5. Do you really feel it will stop mass murders?
    - Unlikely

    6. Do you think the government will stop after this ban? Again, we are assuming it is passed.
    - I think at worse the ban will be temporary like last time.

    7. Do you believe the police have the ability to protect you?
    - Sometimes

    8. Do you think they have the legal obligation to protect you?
    - I don't particularly care

    9. Do you own a gun?
    - Nope

I've yet to hear a convincing argument from the pro AWB side to this day, enlighten me.
Well, not a pro AWB guy here, but just my undiluted opinion...

I have a feeling most if not all of the more outspoken pro AWB posters will avoid this thread.

I'm not for banning semi-automatics or other guns, but FOR HEAVY REGULATION, ENFORCED REGULATION, to criminalize the Bad Guys and take the guns out of their hands.

I have a few questions for all of you. Let us pretend it passes. Leave the cons ution out of this thread and speak on a personal level.

    1. What do you think this AWB will accomplish? A few people will get a warm fuzzy feeling from having "done something".

    2. Will criminals obey? Of course not.

    3. Why should law abiding citizens be punished for the acts of criminals? They shouldn't, but AWB isn't about that. It's about red team vs. blue team and the AWB is just an offensive possession for blue team that red team is trying to defend.

    4. Will you "feel" safer? Not really.

    5. Do you really feel it will stop mass murders? Stop? No. Minimize the number of people killed in a specific mass murder? Potentially, but utterly impossible to quantify.

    6. Do you think the government will stop after this ban? Again, we are assuming it is passed. Yes, until the next mass shooting.

    7. Do you believe the police have the ability to protect you? To an extent.

    8. Do you think they have the legal obligation to protect you? Legal? No. Moral? Yes.

    9. Do you own a gun? No.

I've yet to hear a convincing argument from the pro AWB side to this day, enlighten me.

passion is fine. it's treating everyone who disagrees as if they were a traitor or a moron that grates.

Well that's all on your boy Barry. Have you seen how little forged/failed background checks are actually prosecuted?

It's weird how people have core convictions that don't change with time.

Or treating everyone who disagrees as less compassionate and intelligent.

I'd say he was enforcing the laws that background checks are put in place for, none of which he's done. I'd be very curious to see the stats of crimes committed by those who failed/forged background checks and were never prosecuted. Surprise! The gun control we've all wanted, taking the guns out of the hands of more criminals.

    Solution: more regulation, right?
