And Neymar. Makes it easy to score playing alongside a stacked team like that.
Then why is it that Zidane never scored much playing on one of the most stacked team in the history of the game as it was that Galacticos team? tbh, imho.

Was not a forward, different players/positions. He did just so much more for the team other than scoring. But you can't compare them.

Ok then, why didn't Brazilian Ronaldo score as much as Messi now playing on that stacked Galacticos team? Or Eto'o and Ibrahimovic playing on the same exact team and position Messi plays now?

if your point is Messi is better than Eto'o and Ibra we already knew that. Messi is a great scorer in the Liga, no debate here.

one thing is sure in my mind, Alves sucks. He is the last represant of these wonderful goal keepers that Spain always produced (Casillas being a fantastic exception btw) ala Zubizareta.

Messi wasn't suppossed to be a scorer either but he's so good that he became one, Maradona the same thing. He wasn't even a striker but still scored a lot of goals, even finishing as the top scorer on the tournaments he played many times. Some guys are just too good.

The difference is that Diego and Zizou didnt play at the CF spot

Messi was a MF and Pep played him as a CF

I wonder how many goals they would scored had they played at this position

Dont get me wrong DAF, I'm not taking anything away from Messi, just wondering

Well, that's my point. Maradona wasn't a CF and he still scored a load of goals. why couldn't Zidane do the same? Maybe 'cause he isn't as good?

Messi plays midfielder with Argentina and he just had the record for goals scored on a calendar year with the NT. And the fact the he was able to pull the CF switch so brilliantly shouldn't be something to knock on him, imho.

No, because he didnt have to

He played with better strikers in his career than Diego ever played with.

Henry, Trezeguet, Alen Boksic, Pipo Inzaghi, Raul, Ronaldo,
Kempes, Valdano, Careca, Caniggia, Batistuta. Maradona played with quite a few good forwards himself, tbh.

    - Yeah Kempes was a TOSB when Diego was called up

    - Valdano was above average

    - Caniggia was a 1 hit wonder .... and he had Diego setting him up

Now Batistuta and Careca, that's another story, I agree with you

Ok, you convinced me. The reason Zidane didn't score a lot of goals is 'cause he didn't wanted to.

Zidane was never looking for scoring goals, he is a midfield, his stuff was to create, facilitate for the others not for himself. No need anyway to act like he was a scrub in front of the goal, he always was clutch and scored when needed to tbh. But that's true scoring 3 againsts real santander was never the kind of achievement he was looking for.

    Sevilla though...

... that's the team he looked for.
