He's starting to "get it", and know where to be. He's also the fastest big man we've had since prime DRob.
Elson was faster but Ayers is already better than him.
That dunk in the finals when he nearly decapitated himself...
Looking much better. I think his early play is more of a result of just trying to find his way around.
He's not completely horrible anymore so that's promising tbh.
He still doesn't get how to play defense.
Which is why people making threads about him being trash after 2 games was ridiculous. It took Splitter a while to learn the system. With his athleticism and physical play, there was no doubt he could help the 2nd unit. I'm just wondering what Baynes is or isn't doing to get time. Not that I mind either way, just curious
When his shot confess back he'll be an asset. He also needs to take PnR defense lessons from Splitter. Ayres is athletic enough, but his technique needs work. He's still a project, but he's the most exciting project big the team has had in a while.
Early on he was looking just as bad... at least he made improvements.
He's the fastest big man who could catch a ball or get into defensive position since DRob. As for "prime", I'd wager that Robinson could probably have come out of the stands in 2004 and been faster.
He's not really that fast tbh . He's decently athletic but it's very straight line athleticism. It's not that true, fluid athleticism you like to see.
Plus, he looks so goofy when he starts to run
Thank you.
Ayres was front and center of that 3rd quarter near collapse.
Yeah, you beat me to it. Talk about your premature ejaculation. He was pretty bad before being pulled in the 4th too.
Baynes reminds Pop of Sjax with his personality, Pop is just terrified of that kind of alpha male personality, he got Sjax back and finally understood that he could only deal with docile role players like RJeff and Splitter... RJeff and Splitter the ultimate betas are Pops favorite kind of player deep down even tho they're the least useful in the POs . Wish Pop would put the interests of the team above everything...
Rinse and repeat every ing game and you have Ayres in a nuts .
It's Ayres, not Ayers, tbh. OP = spelled wrong.
No it isn't. It's Ayers. As in Ayers Rock, also known as Uluru. Big famous rock down in Australia.
We are talking about Aron Baynes, right? You know, the Ayers Rock. The Aussie that's rock solid.
PS: When did we cut Jeff Pendergraph?
Apparently Gasol might have an MCL injury...Hopefully Ayers can have that same kind of production for us against the spurs rivals.
Except that he wasn't.
Exactly. Ayres entered the game 3:24 minutes before the end of the 3rd, and the Spurs increased their lead by 5 points. During those 3.5 minutes he had a rebound and a foul.
All in all I thought he really contributed against Memphis. He had good IQ on several plays, especially when he got a too-long pass on a fastbreak, was jumping OOB to catch the ball and had the presence of mind to fling it to Kawhi in the corner (who sadly missed the open 3). He's not overdoing it any more.
