Question for the Monkeyball expertise here on the board. If Steve McNair wins the Super Bowl back in 99, does Monkeyballin' become even more of a mainstream thing in the NFL earlier? Or, does it take the same progression it has been for the past 30 years or so?
running qb's have still predominantly sucked since then, so i don't think it changes much
i wouldnt classify mcnair as a monkeyballer, tbh. as is mcnabb or culpepper. vick is the de facto poster child of monkeyballers in the early years
yeah mcnair, mcnabb, culpepper, even one legged leftwich weren't true monkeyballers. like holden said, vick and madden 04 started that aberration.
since then the league has been pushing for the next great monkeyball qb.
He had monkeyballer tendencies and he might not have been the forefather of the movement...but I see where you're getting at.
like mcnair, qbs like luck and rodgers have a tendency to monkeyball but they only use it to extend plays or as a last resort plus they do most of their damage in the pocket. the true monkeyballers like , kraep, tebow and rg3, its a main part of their arsenal and once the pocket collapses their main instinct is to usually monkeyball has the best chances of succeeding because he can take hits. cant wait to see johnny football monkey around in the nfl, they will tear him in half
Point well made...They were comparing Johnny Football to Russell Wilson today on The Herd and the guy flat out stated No.
which evolutionary tree does Wilson belong to?
