Those hating on Danny Green, do you prefer the days when scrubs like Bogans/Mason/08-10 Finley were starting in the backcourt next to Parker?

the spurs were going nowhere when we were on offense-first team. last year we were starting defensive specialists in Green, and Kawhi and became a top 2 team in the NBA. this is what we need to go back to. none of this Marco starting bull . i love marco, but on the bench so he can score in a pinch

Wrong. I'm one of the few that isn't a fan of Belinelli. You can look it up. He's an upgrade over those guys I mentioned, but definitely not over Danny Green.

To be fair, I don't think Danny could play this well in another system. He's a product of the system but individually he's improved in every aspect not called dribbling. His defense against Wall at the end of regulation was ing stout.
Any system that allows him to not dribble in one he'd play well in. Thunder, Clippers, Heat, Pacers and even Nets are teams he'd produce for no problem.

He's annoying at times, but I've never understood why so many people want to trade him. He had a great playoff run last year.

Because at the end it felt like he could be shut down easily when he was finally guarded, not like Bonner but kind of... His dribbling is epically bad and now the scouting report is out, you make him a driver, he's gonna the bed. A two way player with better off the dribble fame like Ross would have been nice...

You guys realize that when Miami made a concerted effort to close on Green's 3s and shut him down, it allowed Duncan to go 1 on 1 and dominate, right?..

If a defense is making an effort to prevent Green from shooting open 3s(which isn't true, since he still gets a lot of looks from 3), it opens the offense up for Parker/Duncan and the rest..

Of course they don't. They think that spacing the is making wide-open threes and not being guarded so tightly that there's no help defense to that side.

You can even add Detroit to the list. They'd gladly take Green over Kentavious /Singler.
Tbh, he would fit with even more teams if he moved over to SF. Cavaliers, Timberwolves, Jazz, to name a few.

Covering him one on one is not like he's drawing double... You're making it sounds like the latter...

The problem with Green is that someone has to command a double team for him to have any value which may be the case of no one this year... So team may focus more on making him a driver...

Once Miami stopped helping on Duncan he was taken out of the series...

DG's defensive instincts were on point tonight. And he made key plays down the stretch on both ends. Don't understand how so many spurfans fail to realize what the spurs have in DG. The guy is still on very, very reasonable salary, hustles all game on defense, and heats up quickly from beyond the arc. He has a good at ude, does exactly what he's asked, doesn't ballhog, has pretty good size for a 2 guard. He's pretty much an ideal 3-and-D guy.

It's the 2 most watched Spurs game in history, tells you how well known the scouting report is on Green at this point... Gotta pray TP gets back to MvParker and draws help consistently...

Oh yeah it was the biggest chokejob in nba history, maybe even in US SPORTS history, but danny not contributing in that game didn't exactly help matters.

You act like that's a bad thing. That's what spacing the floor means. Essentially, he prevented anyone from getting doubles. That's huge. He also drew Lebron in those games, which is why Leonard exploded. Had Parker been healthy, Game Six would have been a Spurs blowout.

Spurs did everything right. Once Miami decided to put LeBron on Parker and a hand on Green it led to Duncan, Leonard, and Diaw dominating their defender (Exactly what they had planned.)

They shut down Miami in the final 4 minutes and made HUGE plays on both ends. Really, everything they did before-hand worked. It was just the choke that.. ugh..

It's like long as mofo's who can shoot the out of the ball help teams win basketball games. Still, in a week some idiot on this board will want to trade him for Gerald Wallace/Harrison Barnes or some other disaster.

So many key factors to point out in that game, tbh.
