UTSA had one too. Teddy Williams.
.....would you believe that TCU has had more sub10.00 sprinters than all of Asia and white Europe combined? The Horned Frogs have had seven among the alumni (Cali JC star Kembarley Brown a Jamaican on his way next season giving them eight) while Asia/white Europe......one.
Ray Stewart Jamaica
Jon Drummond
Kim Collins St.Kitts
Percival Spencer Jamaica
Charles Silmon
Michael Frater Jamaica
Darvis Patton
Actually his sub10.00 was a wind aided time, so it doesn't count.
I do however think with his 6-3 stride if track had been his thing instead of football he could have been a world class sprinter.
Texas schools and the sub10.00 sprinter. (alumni)
Texas Southern...Jimmy Hines who ran the first legal sub10.00 at the 68 Olympics.
Texas A&M...Andre Cason
TCU...as mentioned above
UTEP...Oba Thompson (Barbados) Olapade Adeniken (Nigeria) Churandy Martina (Atilles)
Houston...Carl Lewis, Leroy Burrell
Rice...Kareem Street Thompson
Abilene Christian....Mickey Grimes (while not a sub10.00 Bobby Morrow won the 56 Olympic 100/200/4x1 gold)
Hard to believe that the U of Texas has never had a sub10.00 sprinter. They did give the NFL these decent NCAA sprinters/footballers.
Tony Jones and Herkie Walls both Houston Oilers.
Johnny Jones who was an Olympian, Jets.
Current stud Cheifs running back Jamaal Charles was a stud track guy.
Baylor has had a ton of great 400m sprinters and the great Michael Johnson, but no sub10.00 sprinter but that could change this season with freshman Trayvon Bromell who has ran a 10.01 to lead the nation.

Bromell ran a wind aided 9.77 in Lubbock this past weekend.
Kid can fly. He'll have a legal sub 10 before he's done.
No doubt he runs a sub10.00.
He was the fastest HSer in the nation last year and the fastest frosh this year. If the kid is cool and wants it he will be a world class/Olympic type sprinter.
He pulled something recently not sure of his status for the NCAA's.
