In the post-season, I'd gladly take him in the Marco Belinelli role.
I would've rather have him in 2013
Expect Allen to do one of three things: Agree to terms in Cleveland, find a deal with a contender in a warm weather city, or retire.
I hate Ray Allen. It would have been the perfect summer if:
a) we hoist the LoB
b) We drive DFish into retirement
c) We drive Battier into retirement
d) We drive Ray Vajayjay into retirement
If Mario Elie, Jerome Kersey, and Robert Horry can be role players in SA then Jesus Shuttlesworth can.
.NO.
I am not sure how he would fit rotation wise, but I would not be opposed to it. Idgaf who it is, if they can help win games they are welcome in my book.
Witnessing the Finals this year, he can't D at ALL, and can really only hit the corner 3, a shot that most teams deny us, for the most part. His shot above the break can only be described as sad these days.
Ray Vajayjay is also older than Horry was when we cut him loose for being TOO OLD.
Ray Allen would be perfect for the Spurs.
But he's a city guy.
He won't come here in a million years.
Either Cavs or retires.
Mills will miss 2/3rds of the season. Ginobili will need time. You can give him minutes at the 1. Being able to hit the corner 3 fits right in. Big game experience.
I wouldn't mind if it's just for the RS, but you know Pop will hand him minutes in the playoffs over guys like Danny or Mills... I just rather the Spurs don't bring him in and put Pop in that position, tbh...
Marcus, you have to understand ST doesn't want proved players on this team (Lebron, Gasol, Monroe, Marion, Pierce, etc) ... So of course they won't want Jesus Shuttlesworth.
Ideal ST needs: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Bertans, Ryan Richards, Nando De Colo, Omri Casspi, Xabi Rey
You forgot Pierce...
How could I forget
The whole team has to work to get Ray Allen open shots. He runs off so many screens without the ball, it's amazing. But, that means you have to focus your offense on getting him a shot, or else he's worthless. He's not a screener, passer, penetrator, or defender. He's a guy that needs the team to focus on screening for him to get a shot. Not sure that's what the Spurs are about.
But, make no mistake. The guy is still money when he DOES have an open shot.
Or, he's a guy who can make the extra pass and take the extra pass and hit the open J. And handle the rock.
I'd ing love to have him; you can never have too many shooters, and he's the greatest one to ever set foot on an NBA floor. Yes, I ing hate Ray Allen. And I hated Robert Horry for taking a Spurs le in 1995 and for giving David Robinson a cheapshot slap to the nuts that dropped him to the floor at the end of a blowout in the 03 playoffs (I think it was Game 2).
They set those same complicated patterns of screens for Danny Green, Patty Mills, and Marco Belinelli. Those kind of plays are exactly what the Spurs are about and the reason they'r the champs.
