Barcelona's Lionel Messi is to be prosecuted for alleged tax evasion despite earlier recommendations from the public prosecutor that the charges be dropped against the Argentine star.

Last month, prosecutors in Spain asked a judge to drop the charges against the 27-year-old, saying his father, Jorge, was in charge of the player's finances and was thus to blame for the alleged wrongdoing, per BBC News.

However, a Spanish court decided Monday to continue investigating both father and son—who deny the allegations—as the Barcelona player is still believed to be involved, per Reuters, via The Guardian:

Still with that? That must have hurt your feelings pretty bad, tbh. Don't be mad though, that phrase was what made FIFA delay the Golden Ball ballot so that Tristiano could win it.
