Is this a serious question? You think he's "charging" him to play patty cake? Is the cop supposed to fling his gun and get in a karate stance?
You don't charge a cop...ever, unless you want to end up dead. How is this not common sense?
excuse me?

are you re ed? a cop is absolutely in the right to shoot a suspect thats charging them. especially if they just fought with that suspect and the suspect tried to go for his gun.
That depends on what he brought to the register tbh. I wouldn't charge him for a donut or coffee, but larger items, yeah.
stupid no doubt, but I'd want the cop to apprehend someone without killing them in a similar situation. You've chased this guy, and then he charges you. I hope that a fully trained police officer would understand that he's unarmed given his behavior up to that point, and shoot at his legs at the very most.
Possible that sensationalists are getting to me, but it seems that this unarmed killing thing is getting more frequent. I get that it's easy to say these cops are making rash decisions in retrospect, but race is a factor and it adds another problem. I'll see someone make the point that we've had an officer lose his job over killing a dog, but then we'll see another get paid leave for killing an unarmed person.
Not ignoring the looters, and again, you're a ing moron to charge an officer. Still, weighing everything that we know, I'm leaning towards holding law enforcement to more accountability for these recent situations. Especially if we're going to give them military equipment, which is terrifying and wrong imho.
MB was a big dude. People have been killed/seriously hurt from just one punch before. And when a cop shoots someone they shoot to kill. They arent trained to try to injure someone. Always shoot for center mass.
If they aren't trained to do that, then my expectations of an officer are entirely unrealistic.
Yes they are entirely unrealistic.
Just heard the rest of the story and sounds like the police screwed up and overreacted.
Still no excuse for the rioting though.
Two wrongs do not make a right.
"Ballistics will show he was shot in the front (during bum rush) and not in the back"
If this proves to be true, will completely obliterate the "he was standing there with his hands in the air and the cop shot him in the back".
This. If Michael Brown was charging me I'd put two shots in his chest.

Hard to believe the kid charged to attack the officer, especially after being shot once.
