I went walking
down by the tracks
me and my old bulldog
and a blind cat named Max

I had my 22
and a box of s s
and a pocket knife
I bought at Dales

so we were ready
for what ever may come
when I saw a hitch hiker
holding out her thumb

she was tall
cute as could be
so we walked on over
my bulldog, Max and me

I said Hi
she smiled and say Hey
then I told her
she was headng my way

so she put down her thumb
gave a little grin
and then she told me
I love that dimple in your chin

I then took her hand
what a lucky day
when a cop pulled up
and took her away

the next day
I heard on the radio
escaped killer Betty Smith
back in Ohio

so what does that
have to do with
a Safe Day
hmmmm...nothing
