Knew it was Jeter instantly. And Yankee fans still try to pretend that he was anything other than trash defensively because he made a nice play against Oakland that one time in 2001!

Gozilla was dynamite, but that 2009 team was stacked. Jeter, A-Rod, Damon, prime Texieria, etc. Just an all-around beast team.

Padres traded Maybin and Quentin for BJ Upton and Kimbrel. Their outfield is going to suck terribly when Veneble isn't out there but god damn they're gonna be monsters offensively.

Thought he got it already? Doesn't matter I guess, he won't be back to dominating for two years.

Yeah, Yu went under the knife about a month ago. Should be back mid-season 2016.

this trade doesn't affect outfield defense at all really. Not really liking it due to the money we are taking on and giving up wisler, another prospect, and a draft pick.

True, but at least Kimbrel is only 26 and already the best closer in the game. If the Padres have a lead after 7 innings they're gonna win the game.

That was a good trade. Upton sucks, but Kimbrel is worth it.

    Astros are 1-0.

I'm hoping this isn't the only time they're above .500 for the season.

115 MLB baseball players are starting the season on the disable list. The records
on this was started in the mid 1990's and the highest till this year was 104.
Texas and Oakland have the most with 8 player each and the Twins have none.
The modern MLB player seem to be not as durable as old school players of 20 years
ago. How many pitchers have complete games anymore. Unless he is throwing a no-no
they will pull him after the 6th or 7th inning. Is the year round training and all the fall
winter and summer leagues for teens putting on too much wear and tear on the kids?
A friend of mine son who is 15 plays almost year round. He is on a throw count now
because how much he plays. He catches part time so he throws the ball back to the
pitcher and this puts wear on his arm. Look how many kids and young adults are having
Tommy John. It's not just for pitchers anymore......

    The argument is

    - No one scores in Petco after 9PM anyway
    - Kimbrell is now 1/10 of the payroll
    - Braves are expecting Kimbrell to need arm surgery in the next few years
    - Braves GM surprised Pads accepted BJ, Pads argue it helps them resign Justin

Padres need to make deep Playoff run, because in 3 years they will be in major rebuilding mode with empty farm system

Braves are over-loading on young pitching. You could argue Hitting is a premium these days. But I expect Braves to load up on hitting in this years draft and might end up packaging some of this pitching for an everyday OF starter in 2 years

Maybe Braves would have been better suited waiting to deal Kimbrell at All Star break for bigger returns. But dumping BJ (2nd worst contract in baseball) was going to require dealing a talent like Kimbrell.

Padres are desperate to Win now but I think this deal will end up haunting them.

Obviously they only have a 2-3 year window, but they weren't getting anything done with their farm system anyway. They've had loads of talent come through year after year only to be traded for more prospects that were eventually traded. At this point they might as well throw caution to the wind and try to win imo.

The Royals have 4 HRs through 2 games so far. Last year they didn't hit their 4th HR till the 13th game. If they can continue with this power adding to their speed, contact hitting, pitching, and defense, the American League is in big trouble.
