    Rondo:

    - Shooting 35% on jump shots this season, despite limited volume
    - The Celtics' have literally been better when he's off the floor the last 2 seasons, despite having terrible talent on the roster(so, you would assume they would need Rondo to be on the floor)
    - The Celtics have been one of the 5 worst teams in the NBA this season at defending the PG position

The Mavs have the best offense in the NBA, so far, adding a PG that has a similar jump shot to Tyson Chandler doesn't add anything to their already-elite offense..defensively, he's average nowadays, and a PG can't anchor a defense, anyways..

When Jameer Nelson is your starting PG, trying to make a big move by acquiring a big-name PG is a no-brainer, but Rondo has been one of the most overrated players in the league for years now, Carlisle isn't going to change that..

Even with Rondo playing like , that offer is trash ! 3 backups, 1 late 1st and a 2nd round pick for Rondo ? That's a robbery.

...indeed...I knew I was going to come up here and see this. Rondo is an upgrade over Nelson but that no reason for Spur fan to lop off their own s in fear.

    wow Rondo is crazy overrated.

I don't expect him to be as bad as he has been for Boston lately where he is assist-whoring enough that he is hurting the team. He gives up open lay-ups for assists LOL and like it's been said already Boston in a solid sample-size has actually been worse with Rondo on the floor than off it.

Sure he'll provide some value for the MAVS but Brandan Wright has been amazing enough that he was someone more to be worried about than Rondo and with Jae Crowder gone they give up important long-armed perimeter-defense which within Carlisle's schemes seriously bothered us in the playoffs. Now they're stuck with Chandler Bing.

It's true there wasn't enough minutes available for Brandan Wright but what a luxury he would have been for them if/when Tyson Chandler miss time.

It may not be horrible for Dallas, though things could go quite wrong - they're messing with an offence that was rolling, but I like the deal for Boston.

Considering who both would have to give up, it wouldn't make either much better. I'd be a but more worried if he ended up in Dallas under RC tho...

Dallas trading spare change for Rondo. Amazing. Why are the Celtics just giving him away. Seems like they could get a better deal than the Mavs late first rounder and a couple of guys that won't be on the Celtic roster beyond this season.
Carlisle is a former Cel . Same reason why prime KG landed there instead of LA to play with Kobe.

rondo has 6 years w/o being a good defender...maybe due to lack of motivation or something...

he's good at stls and rebounds the ball great for a pg though!

lets see what a change of place does for him.

Rondo has mailed it in playing for a ty team. That motivation will come back playing for a le contender. Throw in the fact that he can gamble on defense like he did for the 08 Boston squad now that he has Chandler behind him

Mavs shake up their so far league leading historically elite offense with a player who will have the ball constantly and who can't shoot.

I'm not even sure Carlisle likes this.

It could backfire badly and even worse than that if Tyson Chandler gets hurt.

Should spurs come in and trade too?
I mean, we can possibly offer better than mavs for rondo.
Or since Celtics probably dun need those players, could we trade for wright or crowder?

If Tyson Chandler gets injured or gets in foul trouble, who plays center-- Charlie Villanueva? I assume Dallas will try to trade Felton, Harris, Nelson, or Aminu for a serviceable big man, but they are really thin in the front court.

Sorry Horhay, this move hardly moves the needle. I know how much you fear Tammy getting 6, but unfortunately their biggest enemy is still health.

Probably Greg Smith. Not ideal, but he is better than Ayres hahaha

Jonathan Feigen: Don't be surprised if Celtics look to flip Wright. One of the reasons Celtics needed a deal done by Friday. Twitter Jonathan_Feigen - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.WLvQmJyp.dpuf

Landing Wright would be incredible for the Spurs...

I get the feeling that all the scared GNSFs haven't even watched Rondo play since like 2009 and overrated him back then.

    On paper, Mavs are stacked.

But Rondo needs the ball, Ellis needs the ball, Dirk needs the ball and Parsons needs the ball.

Anyone who says Brandan Wright is " " doesn't understand basketball. He's one of the most productive and useful bench players in the entire NBA.

If they click with Ronda its over for the rest of the NBA.

That's a big if. But mavs have Carlisle one of the best coaches in the league.

I give it a 50% chance this will work out for them
